    e-mail address for Ken Calder?

I think that you'll find that it is - I sold a vintage jacket to him a week ago and exchanged a series of PMs with him on that Moniker.

He's contactable on VLJF ('Ken at Aero Leather').

"Do the tighten up" (how to shrink leather jackets to fit better?)

I used a similar for my GW A-1 (helped to tighten the small of the back, which was a little loose). I soaked it under a shower (keeping the knits and lining dry) then heated with a hair dryer.

    What is it about horsehide?

Are you sure those are chickens you're keeping? They sound mighty bright....or paranoid...

    What is it about horsehide?

What? You're still eating 'chicken' nuggets? After all that hoo ha about hedgehog...? ;-)

    What is it about horsehide?

The point is that horses have found their way into the UK food chain recently through unscrupulous suppliers. There have been several scandals recently where 'processed beef' has contained significant amounts (and most recently 100%) horsemeat. These horses are not raised for food - their origin...

For Sale Willis & Geiger Bureau of Aeronautics Summer Flying Jacket NA-1 (size 46)

For Sale my Willis & Geiger Bureau of Aeronautics Summer Flying Jacket NA-1. This is a copy of the BuAero 37J1B. This is a well tailored jacket in excellent condition - no rips, tears, stains or smells. The cloth is 100% cotton Bedford cord and an excellent option for a summer weight...

    What is it about horsehide?

Not sentimentality. Phenylbutazone (used as an analgesic in horses) is reported to cause aplastic anaemia in humans.

Finally able to order an Aero

Desirable ones - rare, small contract, named maker, unusual hide, etc.

Favourite leather jacket style + favourite skin/hide

Yes. I do, the drape of capeskin is closer to the look of the issued jacket. If you're not bothered about this then a thin horsehide will give a more robust jacket. On the other hand thick horsehide doesn't suit the pattern at all IMO.

Finally able to order an Aero

I have only ever lost money on my first jacket (an AN-J-3A that I hadn't realised was quite rare), otherwise I've generally researched carefully, bought pretty well and the jackets have appreciated making a modest (occasionally not so modest) return. As with antiques, always buy the best you...

    Best M-422(a) repro?

Oh, it's very solid and wearable: But if I'm selling I'll be looking to recoup my costs. Drop me a PM and we can talk. Away on business at the moment.

    New Good Wear "Californian" Ventura

My view too - my A-1 jackets (and A-2/M-422A/B-15 for that matter) work best with my fishtail trousers.

    New Aero A-2

    Tough crowd...took a while ;-)

Finally able to order an Aero

It's very much like the LVC Menlo in cut/pattern with buttoned cuffs.

    1930s/40s Grizzly Jacket (pictures)

No, I'm sorry, but I've never appreciated the appeal of this style at all. A bizarre mixture of materials.
