    Members in Uniforms Part 2

Some more random shots I'm in over the past few months: Me in the center with the shades: ...amd would this qualify as "in uniform"?

The very best image of yourself

Thanks, something about the pilot gear that really turns people's heads. I never understood it, but I actually would have woman flocking to me dressed like that around an airplane (God knows that never happened otherwise). I'm not too old to look the part these days, but I'm getting there with a...

The very best image of yourself

Nope, 1st Volunteer Cavalry, Span-Am war. This isn't re-enacting as such, was taken after a cowboy action shooting even, which explains the non-correct belt and six guns (matched set of Ruger NMVs with custom grips).

    Vintage Sunglasses

I couldn't resist showing off my 1945-dated foster-grant GI issue clipons, on my WW2-issued GI eyeglasses, used to good effect in a recent parade...

The very best image of yourself

I'm a little torn. Seeing that I'm not exactly a handsome man (and less so with each passing year), it's tough to get a good shot of me, but a couple of people have: But this one has to be my favorite, a simple snapshot that worked great in b/w:

Lemay Museum had grand opening in Tacoma, great car collection!

I'd love something like that, but I couldn't hang around that eyesore of a WW2 Jeep in my 40s military duds, I'd have to bring my own 1944 Willys MB... Oy, where do I start? Markings all wrong (star on the shovel?), wrong color paint, locking hubs, non-military front bumper and tow bar, no...

Driving golden era cars in the modern era

I drove my WW2 Jeep in a parade yesterday, and I watched several vehicles almost drive off the road while the drivers were trying to point out my ride to their passengers. One was alongside me, not looking ahead and trying to fumble with a camera! I actually pulled off the side of the road...

    A Question about Typewriter Ribbons

Here are a few observations I've made on period typewriters: Buy ones that are already in good condition and work well. It's better to pay more up front and have a good working machine than get junk because there are so few people who work on them now. always open up the cover and check for...

    Show us your Guns!

I showed off a few of my toys at an airshow last weekend with my Jeep. In the photo is: M1911A1, M1 carbine (very low serial #), M1928A1 Thompson SMG, M1A1 rocket launcher with M6A1 and A3 rockets, M1919A4 with original 42-dated tripod (still in original darker pakerizing)

    Show us your Guns!

I never heard it put that way until a year or two ago. Back in the 90s, that's where almost all the re-enactors got theirs (I still have mine, bought for $300 in 1992) and I never heard of any issues with them until very recently for some reason. Mine worked fine, I shot competitions with it and...

Lemay Museum had grand opening in Tacoma, great car collection!

Some other stuff that I liked: Check out what showed up, an entire line of old Mercs. There were almost a dozen gull-wings in this line, I couldn't get them all into one shot: And finally, the worst eyesore of a WW2 Jeep I've ever seen in a museum.

Lemay Museum had grand opening in Tacoma, great car collection!

The Lemay museum opened in Tacoma today: http://www.lemaymuseum.org/ My wife and I stood in line for about 90 minutes to be among the first to see the collection. The building was massive and the collection really awesome. You name it, they probably had at least one of them if it was a normal...

    Show us your photography

I’ve been published a few times over the years. My biggest love for a subject is trains. I don’t submit train photos to magazines are there are an infinite number of people already doing that. http://www.railroadforums.com/photos/showgallery.php/ppuser/4329/username/p51 Shows some of my best...

    Just Watched Red Tails.

I saw it Sunday afternoon. It's pretty much a comic book brought to life. The good: The sets were incredible. The uniforms and equipment very well done, maybe the best ever done for a WW2 aviation film since the war (I sure hope to see the props and costumes pop up in an auction eventually)...

Seattle +/- 100 miles Roll Call 2012 (almost)

Ooh, that’s a gnarly commute to say the least, especially these days! Ask Alice about the group we all belong to if you’re really interested in doing military living history events with “The Friends of Willie and Joe,” which has members all over the Puget Sound and into Oregon. We dabble in...

    war correspondant

I have a lot of period and collection photos here, including the front and back of a late war correspondent's ID card in my collection: http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y205/WarCo/?start=all it might give you a better idea as to how to mark your helmet as that cavas cover isn't anything like...

Seattle +/- 100 miles Roll Call 2012 (almost)

If you went through with this or spend time there, you’ve run into Alice by now, I assume? She’s in my living history group (tell her Lee says ‘hi’). I live halfway between Seattle and Portland get up there when I can as I have a membership for the museum. I’ve often thought of looking into this...

    War Art

Okay, not exactly original war art, but I’ve done all these at re-enactment events (or from sketches made there). I also sketched a lot from when I was active duty Army, I really should dig those drawings out someday…

    Show us your Guns!

Yeah, it sort of does. It's actually a 1/3 coehorn mortar. He made it that size so you could lob a golf ball with it. I just need to get it out in the open to fire it eventually...
