What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Thank you. Almost all the photos I’ve posted here over the years are taken with an iPhone. The recent ones from our travels to Santa Barbara are shot with the iPhone 11pro. They are tweaked a little in the photos app and posted directly from the phone. I have a camera with me, but the phone is...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

thanks!... just wordplay of course. I did get a couple of nods of appreciation from male flight attendants today. My best hat travel hatstory was waiting for a delayed flight to board at Burbank airport outside LA and having a fellow stop and ask me if I was alanfgag. Loungers are lurking...

    Post New Hats Here!

Great write-up and pictures. That Hat Corporation of America mfg. label would suggest your riding derby is from the 1940s.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Thanks for the nice pictures of your find. I would second Stefan's recommendation to steam them and keep them out of the boxes. Even the pocket hat (the one I own has a grosgrain sweatband - more forgiving of being rolled than leather) will tend to look slept in if rolled for travel and unrolled...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

An equestrian derby is reinforced for the rigors of riding - a stylish safety helmet/derby hybrid. The laced sweatband was a common feature on this style of derby. This Cavanagh liner was in use post-WWII - early 1950s, after the era of popularity for the derby/bowler and a little before the...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

A little device that might be worth a look - the EarStudio ES100. I bought one looking for a higher fidelity connection to my in-ear monitors when streaming music from Tidal through my iPhone. It's quite a wonderful little device. I bought a second to connect to my vintage B&O receiver for...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Very kind gents... and appreciated, though my hats are definitely aging slower. At least the new iPhone cameras have better optical resolution and don't have to rely on software to sharpen the photo and accentuate every blemish on my face. Much more forgiving portraits. ;^)

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

A younger me, about 7 iPhones ago. Standard Standard Quality, c.1940... still one of my favorites to wear.

    Leather sweat band care?

I've experienced that pain. I've repaired a tear or two with a patch from another sweatband glued to the reverse of the torn sweat. But it does hurt.
