I actually have a Knox very similar to that one, with the same stingy brim, and the center bash without side dents.

Well, I just placed an order for the "New Hampton", after not being able to contain myself anymore when looking at Aureliano's pictures. They told me it should go out Monday, and I'll be sure to post an update on how I like it once I get it.
I have yet to receive the "Columbo remark", and I would actually be quite impressed and surprised if I got one. Hardly anyone I know seems to know who Columbo even is, so the only comments I ever get are Indy comments or Inspector Gadget. If someone called me Columbo, or Phil Marlowe, or Sam...
While I can definitely agree with this in a way, I still think these are pretty cool televisions. I'm a huge fan of wooden appliances from the Golden Era: the first television consoles and Cathedral radios being some of my favorites. Still, I think Bakelite and the very first plastic radios...
