Classic leather jacket & Sam Browne belt made by Langlitz in Portland, Oregon in standard size 46, not custom fit. This is the 10 pocket (9+1 hidden stash pocket in the left arm sleeve) Columbia with diamond stitched padded shoulders and elbows. Made from heavy black cowhide and heavy brass...
I bought my Columbia March of last year. In March of 2013 when I was in Langlitz purchasing the jacket, John told me at that time that the prices on jackets were about to jump the following weekend. Out the door, my 10 pocket padded Columbia with belt came to $1,400.00.
Now... wishing I had...
My Vanson Comet PLU-3. I puchased it off the rack at Insurrection a few years ago and sold it to purchase a Langaliz padded Columbia. I had the opportunity to buy it back so of course I jumped at the chance. Now I've got both the Langlitz and Vanson in my collection. As much as I like the...
I'm Looking to personalize my Vanson Comet and looking for someone who can do custom leather script.
This is what I'm looking to do, only instead of chenille, I want leather script on leather jacket.
If anyone has any idea where I could get this done, I'd greatly appreciate it.
It's the Columbia with all the bells and whistles. 10 pocket (2 hand warmers, 1 chest, 1 watch, 2 outside sleeve, 1 inside pistol, 2 inside wallet and 1 secret stash pocket sewn into the inside lining just inside the left arm sleeve). The only thing this jacket doesn't have are the snaps for the...
That columbia is black cow with brass hardware. It feel's like it pushes 15#. Thought it fit well for off the rack. Waiting for a nice rainy day to break it in.
Here I am in my custom Liberty Motor Wear sweater. They're thick and warm. You can get them in wool or acrylic. But they're not cheap.

Or there's a place in Los Angeles who also makes them. http://nlamc.blogspot.com/
The Vanson is a great jacket and the folks at Insurrection were great in getting it fit correctly. I truly believe they have a vast knowledge of their stock and know how a jacket should fit. However, I wanted something a little bit roomier so I could fit a sweater or hoodie underneath...
I'll be making the drive down from Seattle to Portland day after tomorrow. I'll be looking to pick up a pocket padded Columbia. My Vanson PLU-3 comet is a 46, but it's a little tighter than I like to have my riding jackets. My Langlitz will be large enough to where I can wear a medium thick...
This jacket is the competition weight cowhide Comet PLU-3.
"The Comet PLU-3 is based on the original Vanson Comet cafe' racer jacket, but it has three extra inches of body length and a double-ended front zipper to accommodate a comfortable riding position."
It's funny, I was researching leather jackets and did a google search for the Vanson Chopper jacket and came across a different thread where someone was looking to unload a Langlitz that they're no longer using. I registered for the site and while waiting for my account to be approved and...
Thanks for the kind words. Not sure why the needed to add the kink. I know a lot of folks really don't like it, but I really like the angle it puts the cones in.
For the record, that's not Faster in that photo. How do I know? ...because it's me. Also, it's not a Thruxton, it's a modified Bonneville T100.
Here's another photo of the bike from the side:
And another picture of me in my Vanson Comet:
