Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

Cheers everybody. Wish I could wear it more often, but it is too warm already, just walked home from a bar in a linen shirt at 2.30am... The centre seam allows for a slimmer fit I believe. Even though I like it slim, I decided to have a one-piece back. Thought it might be more durable...

Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

My Board Racer jacket arrived on Monday. I've worn it a few times since then. The weather is already warm and sunny here in the South of England. In the evening it's still a bit chilly – good to wear this with a t-shirt. Here are a few snapshots. Fit-pics will follow as soon as possible.

Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

Now, my Board racer jacket is ready and will be shipped. When it arrives I will post photos. It took a little bit longer, because I made some changes to my order in late January and early February. I am am not in a hurry though.

    Aero labels

That‘s good to know. I took these pictures towards the end of my visit and didn't ask questions about the labels.

Not yet, but almost there. Still have to let them know about the lining. Originally I had planned cotton drill, but there are so many great tartans... Will visit the Lochcarron website again tomorrow. Then I will wait for my jacket.

RRL halfbelt: pictured (a terrible ripoff?)

It is all relative. For some people this is not a lot of money, especially in London or New York or any other capital where RRL products are sold. I wouldn’t buy it. I visited the Aero factory two weeks ago and ordered a jacket there.

RRL halfbelt: pictured (a terrible ripoff?)

Saw this jacket at Liberty’s. The quality is good, however I would be able to buy a similar jacket for a lower price. During the sales I would consider it. The benefit of a brand like RRL is that it is readily available in many shops. You see it, you try it on, you like it, you buy it and wear...

    Aero labels

When I saw Sloan1874's great Board Racer jacket with the unusual Rock 'n' Roll label, I decided to ask about »label-options« when I visited the Aero factory. Yes, there are many labels to choose from. Great to see them all. I took a few photos and with Aero’s permission I am posting the images...

Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

My trip to Galashiels was rather enjoyable. At the Aero factory, everybody was friendly and I could sense the passion they put into their work. Denny took the time to help me plan my Board Racer jacket. First I put on a few fit-jackets and to my surprise, size 42 seemed to fit me well; that’s...

Thanks for the tip, @Fanch, you are right. I will try on stock jackets as well. Dangerous... Can anybody recommend good pubs and bars in Edinburgh?

Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

Next week I shall visit the Aero workshop. Being a member of this board, reading about different tastes and looking at photos of great jackets has been good fun and important to get a better idea about what I like. Cheers! Here is what I plan to order: 1. Jacket: Board Racer. 2. Leather...

Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

@Smithy: I agree with you. It‘s the same with denim, the models that are designed to age quickly and the pre-distressed jeans are not for me. When I buy a jacket, a pair of jeans or shoes, I want it to last as long as possible and slowly develop »patina«, which is a sign of good quality. The...

Yes it is and it's a beautiful jacket. How did you learn about this unusual label; did you visit the factory? Cheers! I prefer the board racer collar. A bit looser, while still relatively slim would be perfect. I would like to wear t-shirts or light pullovers underneath. Thanks! It is my plan...

Thanks for all your replies. When I wrote down the list, I already had an idea about some details, but about other options I am still deciding. Here is what I would like my Board Racer jacket to be like: I will wear the jacket in spring and autumn in the UK. 1. Leather: Either FQHH or Italian...

Before getting an Aero Board Racer - things to consider.

I’m planning to have my first Aero jacket made, a Board Racer. Looking at this forum’s posts has been quite helpful so far. I have compiled a list of things to remember and decisions to make before ordering the jacket. Did I forget anything? I’d appreciate your feedback; feel free to add to the...

New Alexander Leather Roadster too tight?

What a warm welcome at the Fedora Lounge. Thanks to everybody who took the time to give me feedback. @breton Yes the sleeves could be a bit longer but it’s not bothering me. @StandBy There is plenty of room in the belly area, which I don’t plan to fill in the next 50 years… :) "if in doubt...

New Alexander Leather Roadster too tight?

Yesterday I received an Alexander Leather Roadster in black goatskin. So far I like the leather and the quality of the jacket. It is an old label jacket and the price was very attractive. Unfortunately I am not quite sure if this is a good fit and I might return the jacket. I chose my regular...
