Very nice PL; is that oil-pull steer about the same weight/thickness as CXL steer, I wonder? Is it a smoother hide or is grain starting to pop as you wear it? Congrats!
I have had several LW jackets and find they run true to size. If you're unsure, give Stu at LW a call or shoot him an e-mail. He is very knowledgeable in sizing and will answer all your questions.
+100....
Late to the party but wanted to add my congrats on a fantastic jacket! I'd add "Merry Christmas" to you but I can see that you're way ahead in the yuletide happiness! Enjoy the jacket and the Holidays!
I'm getting one as well. Too many A-2's and G-1's in my closet; the Raider has military styling but is a completely different beast. Good choice Sheepdog149!

Order the Aerial Star in 44Long. If the sleeves fit but you feel the body is too long, send it back for a refund and go with the Aero Happy Days for complete custom sizing.

Fanch is right; with a knit waistband (not a straight leather hem) the extra half inch should feel/look negligible. Plus Aerial Star has a money-back guarantee with free return shipping. Can't beat that!
LOVE this pic Spitfire! I saw a similar photo of AVG Flying Tiger pilots in shorts and leather flight jackets standing in front of their P-40's. Flying at altitude in a hot weather climate still means cold air and wind and warrants some kind of heavy flight kit. Navy flyers in the Pacific wore...
DD, maybe you can go with a size 46 Arial Star? It should have a slightly wider shoulder and maybe a longer sleeve then a size 44? Might be a good compromise. Just a thought.
Hmmm, these measurements for the 44L are spot on for me. Been in the market for a seal brown slash-pocket A-2 and have followed DD's "Aero Happy Days" thread with interest. The Aerial Star ticks all the boxes for me and might be my next purchase.
Try the 'bay and type leather blood chit; A2jacketpatches is the guy to go to. Sean does incredible work! He's done several custom items for me, including a double flag (Chinese/American) with anchor Navy blood chit. This guy is great and can make anything in leather.
Schitz, ol' chum, I've bunched up and balled up and rolled up various leather jackets into military duffle bags for transits abroad and none have ever creased to the point of unrecoverable shrinkage. Methinks that something else is a more likely explanation, though I know not what it might be.
^^^ LOL! That's funny Tropicalbob :D
Once I made Chief, I never thought of goats in the same way again.
Aside from some of the darker connections in history and pop culture regarding goats, a nice, vegetable tanned goatskin is a very good choice for a mid-weight leather jacket.
U.S. Navy Chiefs are historically and reverently referred to as "Goats" (the goat being the official mascot of the Navy). We congregate in "The Goat Locker" for our meetings. Rather apropos that Navy flight jackets are made of goatskin. The goat will always be a noble beast to any Navy Chief :-)
