I was given a used Schott 141 in naked cowhide. The previous owner used some Lexol conditioner on it. I can't tell if it did any damage or not but I would like to clean the conditioner out. Would the Lexol cleaner work?
Thanks
Steve
I noticed Wested's site isn't very good for pictures, even for the Indy jacket. That is surprising and dissapointing. maybe someone who knows the Wested people could suggest they put some larger and clearer photos up.
Thanks for all the help.
One more important question. Is the Highwayman cut like a motorcycle jacket in the arms? In other words, is it cut so that the natural position is with the arms extended, the way many motorcycle jackets are?
Rick, thanks for the pictures. The jacket is looking great and it seems as though it broke in fine for the time given.
You mentioned on the other forum that one of your jackets was a bit short at the waist. Is that the one in the pictures? What did you consider to be too short and what was...
It was heavy horse which after a year of use could still be stood up on it's own against a wall, Driving in it was awefull the whole jacket just raised up about 2" when I sat down, A bi-swing back would probably solve that.
Funny thing...I have a cowhide cafe racer from Schott that after...
BTW, which color are you considering?
Thanks for the advice. I am definitely looking at the black FQHH. The brown looks nice but I've worn brown jackets for many years and it's time for a change.
If this is your first FQHH jacket, you should be aware that FQHH is a bit of an aquired...
I am trying to decide on a lining for an Aero Highwayman. The heavy Alpaca wool is out, as I don't want the extreme warmth. I usually wear a t-shirt under a jacket in the winter time and I don't get cold easily.
This leaves the cotton, which is basically no lining at all as far as warmth is...
I bought a Schott recently and strongly recommend them. My jacket isn't a flight jacket though. I got the 141 cafe racer. You can see and feel the quality. The customer service is great as well.
If you can find the jacket in a retail store you may save yourself 25% or so off the internet...
The steer and horse are both more water resistant than the naked cowhide. The steerhide cafe racer is cut different, a little smaller. I have samples of the cow. steer and horse from Schott. I beat them up a bit an noticed that the horse really creases up easily, while their steer and cow...
Keep in mind the lining when figuring out your size. I wear mine as an everyday jacket in the winter, so I made sure mine fit with the lining. Down in Florida you won't need it.
I bought mine at my regular size, 38, but without the lining it might have fit better in a 36. Like I said...
The fit depends on what you want. The classic biker jacket does fit tight. You can go up a size if necessary. Mine doesn't fit skin tight.
Check the Schott website for store locations. Ask Gail for help, she is great with customer service.
Another option might be Wested. I think they...
Go for the Schott 141. Thats what I have. It runs about 370 on the net, but if you can find a retail store, you can usually get it for about 300.
Schott is absolute top quality with great customer service. They have naked cowhide, steer and sometimes horse.
Maj. Nick,
Thanks for the reply. Naked cowhide is not the same as suede. It is unfinished though. The natural oils of the jacket protect it supposedly. It reminds me of Aero's vintage leather only in cowhide.
Steve
Hi,
I just found this forum and I am really impressed with the knowledge displayed. I am really new to the whole leather jacket scene and have a question.
I have a jacket in black naked cowhide. I am told it is best to keep it out of the rain. What would happen if I did in fact wear...
