Thanks @Brettafett ! I have built up a nice collection of G-1s and A-2s lately. Most of them are Cockpit jackets I got on eBay with the exception of the TG Hero. I honestly think their strength is in the G-1. Their patterns are great for people with longer arms and regular to shorter torsos. I...
Good to know. If the Forrestal had the same fit as the 100 Mission would you have kept it? Having a non-fur collar option is appealing.
I just posted the following in another G-1 thread, but building off what you said about every jacket being slightly different...I recently ordered an extra...
Hey fellow G-1 fans, as a heads up I recently ordered an extra Cockpit Top Gun Heroes jacket so I could try two on in a size 44 to see if there any noticeable manufacturing differences. There were as you may have guessed. Jacky at Cockpit told me prior to ordering the jacket is made from their...
Thanks for the input Seres! It sounds like I should stick with the 44 in the 100 Mission and a 42 in the Forrestal. I wear a 42 in their regular "mil-spec" G-1. But I suppose I can order both sizes and see how they compare when the time comes. Did you enjoy wearing both? I also have an A-2, but...
Hey Brettafett - I am thinking about getting the Forrestal and 100 Mission G-1 jackets in the future when Cockpit has another sale. I am guessing my size is 44 based on that is my size in the Top Gun Heroes jacket. Do you recall if the Forrestal and 100 Mission fit exactly the same? Cockpit has...
I have heard similar thoughts between the two jackets. Have you owned both the Nowak and Belstaff before Seb? Do you know what kind of leather is used on the Belstaff? I can't put my finger on it...seems too light/thin to be cowhide, not luxurious enough for lambskin, and the grain is not...
Hey Matt - it's a bit tough to accurately capture the true jacket color, but I would describe it as a dusty brown. It's definitely on the lighter side. I think with some wear and leather conditioner it will darken some. I think Belstaff could have used their "black brown" shade...would have...
I found the Belstaff Indy jacket that was released under the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull license back in 2008 on eBay for a decent deal so I pulled the trigger on it. It just came in the mail today so I am posting some fit pictures and measurements as an FYI. The sleeves are a bit short, but I...
Brettafett - I am considering both the 100 Missions G-1 and the Forrestal in the future to add to my collection. Is the Forrestal the same fit as the 100 Missions G-1?
I definitely decided a little while ago that the Top Gun 44 is the best size to keep as I figured that money could be used towards a 100 Mission G-1 instead, which is essentially the TG jacket without the patches (some minor differences in details).
Brettafett: I just finished trying on 3 sizes for the Top Gun Heroes G-1. I can definitely vouch for people when they say to go up one size from your regular chest size. I have a 42” chest and the TG jacket fit very snug in a 42. The 44 fits great and still looks nice and trim with the right...
I agree after trying both on again. I noticed the 46 shoulder seams drooped off my shoulder, sleeves a bit too long, and the biggest difference is in the waist. The waist on the 46 was noticeably looser and you can see from the side pictures the back side sticks out way more. Makes me look huge...
Hey Greg! I already sent back the size 42. I could have worn it, but it left very little room underneath and it did not look right.
The 44 feels pretty good. Leaves a bit of blousing to get the right look. I agree there needs to be a little bit of that. But it still keeps that trim look going...
I posted about these jackets in another thread, but I wanted to start a dedicated one for the Cockpit G-1 Top Gun Heroes Jacket. I have tried on 3 different sizes so far and took measurements and pictures for everyone's benefit, in case some of you have been contemplating getting one. I can...
Okay! So I just got my replacement Cockpit Top Gun Heroes jacket in size 44 to replace the defective one they initially sent me! And I had them exchange the size 42 for a size 46 so I could try it on before I settled on one jacket.
Let me know which size looks best to you. I had one person tell...
Haha that is good to know! I am actually leaner now than when I was in my early to mid 20s, primarily due to much better diet choices and workout habits. So it is nice to hear expansion into my 40s is not a guarantee if I keep staying on top of myself.
I am receiving my replacement Cockpit Top...
The 42 feels fine with a button down shirt on. I think the snugness I am feeling is at the top of my shoulders - could be a function of the cut and my broader upper body. If I wear a sweater it starts to feel pretty fitted.
The 44 definitely is more comfy up top but gets blousey in the...
Yeah, I have run into the occasional crazy person like you described too. Typically it’s some drunk and/or ignorant person at a bar, probably overcompensating for something.
I am jumping in a bit late to the discussion, but the way I approach it is pretty much what has been repeated here. And that is the intent of the wearer. In my opinion, as long as you are not trying to pass yourself as something you are not then it is fine to wear patches and insignia on a...
