Do these leather gloves look like a poor fit?

...they otherwise fit but you have this same length-related issue with a lot of other gloves, I'm not sure exchanging them would necessarily gain anything. I suppose you could try the hot water treatment and then wear them til dry, though that's a risk as of course you couldn't return them after...

Shrinking a Mister Freedom Campus jacket

Agree with all of the above. You can shave a little length off the sleeves with hot water treatment, not as much as people would have you believe, but trying to shrink two sizes is a non-starter.

How to really soften stiff, thick leather? Extreme methods only!

IMO This garment needs some kind of treatment then a lot of battering. The treatment might just be hot water and then a long time in a dryer ( no heat ) . They need to be beat into submission .. leave them in the dryer until they beg to come out or in this case until they’re on their knees !!

Fit check on my first leather jacket

...As to the collar, as many others have indicated, work with it a bit and see if it gets more comfortable. I've certainly worn mine in the rain & warmth, but never done a shower or hot water treatment. Take a good nap in your jacket, that will help a lot. Enjoy it, you did great here! :)

    Five Star Leather Jackets

I’m thinking of doing the hot water treatment on the collar only and hopefully shrink the top layer to be the same as size as the bottom. If that doesn’t work then I’ll probably bring it to a tailor. They will most likely have to make the collar smaller overall but I can live with that.

The Era -- Day By Day

("You still up?" puzzles Joe, as he enters the apartment shortly before 2 AM. Sally is seated at the kitchen table, her eyes red. Stella the Cat bounds off her lap to run over to greet Joe, as, without a word, Sally nods toward a buff-colored envelope lying before her. "Y'got a letteh," she...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

No idea. I’ve seen a few of these online that looked like this. I’ve never done the treatment.

    Five Star Leather Jackets

It's not so much the 2mm leather animal type but the full action back pattern. I'm still hanging around to see if someone develop something like that with Shawn first... Waiting to see HH's next jacket with Shawn first. It might be the backing he used on the underside that is puckering. I've...

How to really soften stiff, thick leather? Extreme methods only!

I've given 'em 10 rounds in the dryer, came out nearly good as new. I've been clubbing in them, spilled beer over one knee intentionally... Still feel new. Just now I came up with this; Mixed 1 decilitre alcohol with a roughly equal amount of water (so that's two cups if I got my Imperial...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I have to ask again ... hot water treatment ... hot is what exactly? probably not boiling but not lukewarm either?

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Fit Pic/Opinion on new jacket (Local Jacket Maker)

I think Tony Leathers has been mentioned here before, and I don’t think he is the same guy as our English friend from Hercules. The HWT is super easy. Turn on your hot water and let it get pretty hot. Run the back of your jacket’s collar under the water until you feel it “soften up.” Then...

Sounds easy enough. Will give it a shot with cold water first. Thank you!

    Preservation of treasured hats

Felt doesn’t take much to keep it safe. Avoid temperature extremes, particularly heat, and keep it safe from moths. The leather sweatbands don’t need a lot more than keeping them for getting too hot, but I also treat them with Pecard’s Antique leather treatment. For long term storage, a proper...

    Periodic Sweatband cleaning

My hesitancy around saddle soap is the amount of water needed to achieve the foaming and then more to rinse and I would worry about water stains on the ribbon. I just use a real light dab of Lexol cleaner and then an even lighter dab of conditioner. My wife is a fabric artist and we always...

    The phenomenon of shrinking/expanding jackets

...it started to break in, those leather panels fit closer. At the same time, parts of the jacket that felt too snug loosened up for more comfortable wear. Hot water treatment can also help in getting some extra shrinkage out of a jacket, hot water + drier/sun if you need to shrink it even more..
