The Winterhaven eggnog is delicious, with the "additives" coming through loud and clear. However, we also prefer to mix and match regular eggnog with different extras. Some evenings it's brandy, other evenings it's Bailey's Irish Creme, pretty much whatever we're in the mood for.
A recording of Blue Bloods from last week (?) and the most recent Bull, which can be a surprisingly well-written sort of whodunnit. Scattered in there are catch-as-catch-can episodes of The Crown. The Missus is watching ahead, but likes it so much she re-watches it with me.
The Cinnamon Bear, from 1937. For those who don't know, the program was designed to be an advertising tie-in, syndicated for broadcast from Thanksgiving to Christmas. The episodes I'm listening to have about one minute of music as intro and outro, probably so local announcers could supply...
Most of It Happened on 5th Avenue, mentioned above; will finish probably tonight. Two minor coincidences: Gale Storm, who went on to star in her tv show Oh, Susannah!, is shown in a Times Square music store and behind her is sheet music for Oh, Susannah!. Another character in the story is named...
The other night it was Elf, to officially kick off the Christmas movie season. For the first time it was the whole tribe watching~ daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law, great-grandpa, grandkids, and us. Normally someone calling out the punchlines to the dialogue in the movie you're...
My wife discovered this a couple of years ago and has introduced it into our regular Christmas movies line up. (It's more a movie set at Christmas than a Christmas movie, but it's still fun)
You Gotta Stay Happy (1948) Joan Fontaine, Jimmy Stewart, and Eddie Albert. Former Army pilots trying to survive as a two-plane cargo outfit, with Jimmy as the president and pilot and Eddie as co-pilot. Joan ends up on board for a NY to CA run with time sensitive freight. I had never even heard...
The Missus told me about The Crown, so we've watched about three episodes so far. We're enjoying it- the scenery, the costumes, the dialogue, the complicated family life (Mountbatten, Greek and Danish?). IMDb says Netflix budgeted $100 million dollars for the series, and it looks like it.
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, for the umpteenth time. Love it.
Room for One More, with Cary Grant and (I think) then-wife Betsy Drake. About foster care for abandoned or neglected children. The opening is emotionally rough, but then is by turns sit-com humor and pathos.
