Annoyance du jour: the prevalence of breathy speaking style among radio announcers. Why must they always sound like they're out of breathe? Is it supposed to impart greater intensity or credibility? Credibility? Ha! Don't ya know that's what British or Australian accents are for these days?!
We just bought a house (4 months go) that has a dish washer and a single sink. It has been the hardest thing to get used to. It seems that there are always dirty dishes in the sink waiting to go in the washer. I still prefer washing in one sink, rinsing in another and drying in a rack.
Hence the sentence "I suppose the closest I come are the various forums I participate in (wife refers to them as my "faux friends), and I'm content with that."
Wife and I don't do social media, and when asked why I tend to answer "because I'm not an 8th grade girl." I suppose the closest I come are the various forums I participate in (wife refers to them as my "faux friends), and I'm content with that. I do miss the days before we had cell phones...

No, actually that didn't even come to mind. If we do see somebody it's a shot of somebody riding in a helicopter talking about rush hour traffic, and they all seem to have Pat for a first name.
Oh I'm sure the market has always been in the driver's seat to varying degrees, but I get your point. When do you think that evolution began? While it was surely different for different spheres of our society (this topic has regarded academia), I would venture to guess that it pretty much...
College is damned expensive and, anymore, increasingly worthless, so attracting and maintaining enrollment is a very big concern for private institutions. Sadly it seems that many undergraduate programs today are essentially providing what the high school education of yesteryear already gave...
I know, right? I was taken aback the first time too. That was something my dad had done! So my response has typically been "if you think they need it." Recently I've been searching for a new barber (the latest, of about five, seems to be a keeper) and this last one didn't do my eyebrows and I...
