Anyone else read(ing) this time-travel novel? I finished it a while back, and I quite liked it. Some new twists on the old theme of time travel, with several nods to things like Quantam Leap, Groundhog Day, Doctor Who, and even Life on Mars (UK version).
Thoughts?
I just finished reading Stephen King's newest, "11/22/63," a time-travel novel about the (possible) stopping of the Kennedy assassination.
Very good, I think. Very long, very detailed, very thought provoking. A good read, especially for vintage types! Anyone else read it?
Hi, ladies. I've got a vintage holiday shopping guide series going on my blog (just click on sig below). I'm posting gift ideas from my collection of old magazines. I think we'd all love to be on the receiving end of some of these "old fashioned" gifts!
Y'all come visit!
That is just wonderful! Imagine being 97 (!) and having not one, but TWO sisters old enough to have babysat you when you were a baby still around! Imagine remembering World War I. Those three lovely ladies have seen the biggest changes in history--and can talk about them with each other. And...
How about a nice brown purse, but you get a variety of colorful scarves to tie onto to handle, a la very vintage?
That way you have all kinds of options for very little cost (thrift store silk scarves are great!!).
I know what you mean about the "frumpy"! One day I noticed at my kids' school that every mom in sight was dresses exactly alike: denim cropped jeans, t-shirts, and flip-flops. And furthermore, most of their daughters were wearing something very similar.
I had on an A-line skirt, button-up...
Yes, on the Listerine, it's to combat what might be causing the bumps and itchiness. And I should have said to use the "original" old yellow Listerine that doesn't have any flavoring in it or the other stuff... no need to control plaque on your head!
And also, don't get it in your eyes...
I have no idea if this is appropriate to your condition at all, but when I get the itchy bumpy scalp (allergies manifesting themselves in this weird way!), I wet my hair, pour over a capful of Listerine, let sit for a minute, then shampoo as usual.
I got the idea from my old magazines. Old...
Just another vote for the classic pearls. Single strand, with some pearl studs, for so many women was/is the only jewelry ever needed. Pearls with an evening gown or pearls with a sweater set... it's all good.
I would add some simple gold hoops in about a half-inch size. My great grandmother...
yeah... I want my coffee in a cup. I greatly dislike dunking of anything, so I can't see the appeal of coffee over bread. I don't even like iced coffee.
Now leftover rice, warmed up, with butter, sugar, and milk. Too yummy. My mom does the milk (or buttermilk) over cornbread thing, which I...
^ Yeah... and the Doctor has been doing a lot of dying, too. Once in the Sarah Jane Adventures, and then the Ganger, the space suit, and it seems like another time, but I can't think right now. The Sarah Jane episode with her and Jo Grant was brilliant...and terribly sad, considering...
