When I saw the jacket on you for the first time, I thought to myself how long it takes to see it in the classifieds section. The jacket is undoubtedly a very nice piece, but the cut and fit are actually not for you. Because you are on the fw path, it will be difficult to find a replacement, as...
About nappa leather from german wikipedia (google translator): Nappa leather is chrome-tanned smooth leather from calf or sheep with full grains that either come from the original skin surface or have been embossed into smooth leather. Originally, nappa leather was just the name for glove and...
If I remember your numbers correctly, then I guess size 42" in MF would be too big on you... I am wearing 42" in MF and I am 5'11" and 180 lbs. but there is another one on ebay size L. This is the very early version from MF Naval Collection ;)
Please don't get it wrong, no offense, just a statement: I've rarely seen someone who manages to buy his jackets 1-2 sizes too small as often as you... on the other hand, the classified section is always happy about it. :D
But definitely a cool jacket and a pleasure for the new owner whom it...
I agree with you FW makes excellent jackets. I've also had/have a few models from both. However, since I have owned leather jackets from Thedi Leathers in their used finish, I find the leather used by other manufacturers some kind of "boring". In the end, it's always an individual matter...
+1
I've tried the 4-corners jacket twice, but the cut always felt strange. This probably due to the fact that the jacket has an A-/Bellshape-cut with a wide hip flare. If you are a sporty / athletic V-type, the jacket is probably not for you.
His picture illustrates the hip flare best:
I've had this feeling twice: when I sold a Buco J-21 and an H-D Townsman. These were originals that are no longer produced today or the manufacturers are no longer in business. I never had this feeling with today's manufacturers, because I can order a jacket again at any time...
Nothing new but always a pleasure to wear a Thedi Leathers jacket, for example the MTC 127980 in Buffalo Leather x Twill Gabardine 70's Deadstock fabric :)
Thank you! On the old ones it's a silver conches from larry smith I bought from VMC and on the new ones it's one I had in stock... they are stucked in the leather with some clips which are attached on backside of conches... therefore the leather must be pierced, not for everyone ;)
By the way...
For me the “exit” Jacket was my FW Sunset, although I bought two Thedi Leathers jackets afterwards, lol. However this jacket was the turning point for me after many, many Jackets ;)
It's probably because of my age that I like this Shinki Deerskin so much. It has structure and is super...
Exactly @Monitor, it takes the need to embark on this route and once you've gotten into it, it's like a beautiful leather jacket that many of the forum members own, it's the quality, the craftsmanship, the details behind what it is. Everyone has to decide this path for themselves, some (like...
Of course, you didn't mean to decrying anyone with your "what are you wearing today" post ;) Your explanations about your clothes purchases are understandable for some, if not all ... @Monitor simply recognized through his trained eye that these jeans "make a good match" to your beautiful...
Some time ago in another thread I tried to explain or understand why there are people who spend thousands of dollars on leather jackets and in return wear cheap jeans and t-shirts. I think the whole thing is a lack of sence for attitude or style. At the time, some people felt pissed off because...
I recently bought a second pair of Real McCoy's Buco Engineer Boots in Horsehide* (used but like new) because it is the most comfortable boot ever for my high instep :)
* Shinki Tannery teacore dyed horse buttock
Old vs. New
In the case of jeans or trouser sizes, it's helpfully to know in Japan the waist measurement is often done by circumference and not across the waist x 2. Some shops show how they measure but not all, so be careful with the waist measurements...
