Just received this photo of the finished product. I'm very pleased based on this picture. I'll post some pics of my crease after I receive it and play around with it for a bit.
Let me tell you how my brain works. I think you meant Standard Hat Works. It actually spelled out Har instead of Hat. Well, ya know how we have TAR for thin a** ribbon and WAR for wide a** ribbon? My first thought was that Har stood for huge a** ribbon.
That certainly is a sharp hat! In fact, I remember seeing that hat earlier in this thread and I admired it then. I'll definitely be getting with Michael on a western down the road. Thanks for sharing that beauty again!
I have just received a couple of pics from Michael showing my 2 ribbon color choices. The darker ribbon is called commando. The lighter is called gravel. This a tough decision but I’m leaning towards commando.
Sounds very interesting. I was on the fence about having a western hat made but chose one that would much more often where I live. But a good western is still on my bucket list.
Update: Production has started on my hat. He actually completed the felt work last night. After speaking with Michael, we have decided to make the brim width 2 3/4”. He has pounced the crown a little more to give it a slightly lighter weight and better for creasing. He said the hat will ship on...
What color and dimensions are you going with?
I have chosen natural dress weight beaver, 5 1/2” open crown, 2 5/8” brim, 3/8” ribbon in a color that I’m calling mauve. Basically an OR/Stratoliner clone that will be shipped with an open crown for me to crease. Of course, nothing is set in stone...
He didn't actually say. We've just gone back and forth a couple of days and he's gathering info as to what I want. I'm sure he hasn't started production on it yet. I'll see if I can find out tomorrow and report back.
Well gents, my deposit has been paid and Michael and I working out the details of colors, finish, ribbons, and so forth. I'm happy to get this hat going. I'll update again soon.
