I'm seriously contemplating a Mister Freedom 'La Deffe' cap - always been a fan of the Apache look - but the price is a bit of an eye-waterer. Are Retro Sport and Zasu a decent alternative fit- and detail-wise, or does it have to be Monsieur Freedom? All the details mentioned further up the...
Sorry to hear about your bouvier, kyboots. We had two - huge, amazing personalities, the gentlest dogs imaginable. I don't think I could have another breed. To keep on topic, one of them chewed the s**t out of a pair of Red Wing loggers, and I'm presently contemplating a pair of Wesco Bosses...
Just found a photo of my grandfather and some of his friends in India about 1925, dressed for pigsticking. An array of bush jackets: officers'-style tunics; recognizable ancestors of the safari jacket; a rather modern-looking KD hunting jacket with (possibly leather) patches on the shoulders...
It's a stunner - fits exactly right. Even a fraction longer or shorter would ruin the look. You've got the fit I've been seeking out for many, many years - enjoy it!
You could also find an original Trialmaster on ebay for surprisingly little money. I bought myself a deadstock Sammy Miller with tags for the price I paid for my brand-new Barbour International. They're out there - some people have an insanely inflated idea of what to charge for them, mind you.
Yes, just the hand-warmers alone do that.
A thought: if you like the idea of the M-422a/G-1, you'll probably want a 'real' one at some point, so why not get it now? The Eastman Leather repro is excellent, and by all accounts the Good Wear is indistinguishable from a box-fresh jacket from...
Welcome to the forum. If you've come this far, you've had it, basically. Your future is a wardrobe bursting with old, new, repro and original leathers, and there's nothing you can do about it...:)
My 2 cents: if you want a Langlitz - and why wouldn't you? - get the style they're famous for...
It looks more like a Filson-style wool cruiser. Is that an action back, or a rear pocket? My guess is workwear or hunting, not military.
Very cool coat, in any case.
I hear you. But to my eye this doesn't look like a leather jacket done in cloth, it looks like a loose riff on vintage workwear.
Do you want a cheap alternative to a leather jacket, or something that looks authentically WW2? What's your budget? For the general style of an A2, there are some...
Honestly, I think it looks pretty ordinary - not having seen it in the flesh, though. Sort of a cross between a Carhartt and an M-421A but without the functionality of the one or the history of the other. The pockets look out of place and the cinches/d-rings are out of proportion. IMHO, of...
True, Jan? Crazy... Just goes to show how rubbish the photos on the Aero site really are. Is it their standard jacket or made specially for O.F., do you know?
Pip
Just out of interest, Original Fliegerjacken offer a very nice-looking M-422A. Is it their own product or made by someone else? Anyone know?
It's expensive, but cheaper than the Japanese ones, which it somewhat resembles. On the other hand it might be an Eastman, in which case it's almost twice...
