New to me Pendleton sport coat arrived today. Swapped out the jacket and hat and it seems to work ok. I was trying to practice my serious look but it's hard for me to pull off. :)

My first plain black tie, an Ike Behar (not familiar with this brand other than I have found a handful of nice ties from this brand), a nice blue striped Zegna, a brown tie that I liked the construction and colors and last but not least, a crazy Zegna tie. When I saw it, I thought to myself...

Delta just avoided sending planes to Florida to pick us up, so they didn't need to drag any of us off. :)

I wasn't sure what I'd look like in this type of hat because the local hat stores don't stock 8s, so it was a bit of a gamble. I'm happy with how they look, though. :)

We had an extended vacation from Delta cancelling our flight, forcing us to drive home about 22 hours in a rental, but I did come back to my hats being delivered.

As a non tie wearer for 41 years, I don't have the experience with determining vintages. Is there a good primer to identify what is what? As I mentioned earlier, I basically grab thicker or textured ties with colors I like but have no idea what is dated or not.

I started by getting basic colors, patterns, or things that caught my eye. Then I found some some ties with textures rather than smooth silks, and I started focusing more on construction, weight, and materials.
