Or huge scale stores that sell just one type of thing - stationary; electrical gear; furniture, whatever. That's why the department store doesn't work any more. It tries to do to much and can't do anything well.
Yeah - gentrification in my lifetime was in every decade since the 1960's. Areas come in and out of fashion, change character and sometimes revert to earlier times.
Burt Reynolds did go to William Shatner's hair guy - Edward Katz. Shatner's early wigs were terrible and Reynolds later wigs were terrible. Why do they always put too much hair in these rugs and why is the hairline so low?
I don't think Charlie Sheen wore a wig. His offsider, Jon Cryer, in...
"All under one roof" never made sense in a world of specialist discount stores, which took over the majority of sales from the 1980's on. Few people would go to a department store to buy furniture or whitegoods or camping gear. These anachronistic models are based on a retail world where...
I disagree with your disagreement. :D I know quite a few young people (20 to 30) from many backgrounds who would not wear leather under any circumstances as it is 'not cool' for a range of reasons. They don't care if it is the by-product of meat production. Fake leather is a curious thing. And...
The market doesn't seem big enough for another maker unless there is a point of difference so great people will want it. Schott has done what it has to say alive. Quality leather jackets in good patterns will not help Schott survive. Fashion might.
What does surprise me is the appalling...
The problem of a jacket lifting up when you lift your arms is pretty common in jackets, including cool vintage jackets. I have lost count of jackets I've owned that do this. Generally it has to do with how the sleeves are set into the torso but more than that I don't know. I wonder if the 5* A2...
I'm not keen on the chinos, weekend accountant look (no offence to accountants). I often wear Dickies 874 original fit work pants. High rise, loose, hard wearing. In black they can look formal, in grey they look neat casual.
Don't be surprised... you've made an assumption that we ignored the substance of your post. That would depend on which bit you consider to be the 'substance'. I personally can't get past 'the absolute best leather in the world' which is far more arresting that how many Northern Italian villages...
That's interesting. I wish Aero would provide a typical weight rating for these. They used to say that their medium HH hides were typically 2.2oz thick. I have a Vincenza half-belt and it seems about 2.5oz in weight. Not light by any means from my perspective. Didn't Areo claim that Jerky was...
"Best leathers" always makes me chuckle. Best for what? No doubt in this niche artisanal authenticity movement there will be any number of 'unique' processes and marketing claims.
I agree. I think Outerwear often doesn't really seem to be a part of the FL aesthetic anymore and is its own thing. The biggest change I think I've noticed (apart from people moving away from brown and knits) is the larger amount of money people are spending regularly on high end jackets.
I've always used Brasso on acrylic watch glass. Works wonderfully well. Buff off with a microfiber.
I've never really needed sapphire glass. In 30 years, I have never scratched mineral glass, it seems remarkably tough to me.
As sportswear, leather jackets have a long association with bicycles. The Luftwaffe jacket is often described as the French Cycling jacket, betraying its origins as civilian sporting attire. Leather jackets were the staple wear of cyclists, golfers and outdoors's activities until the 1950's. I...
