I did a double take when you said "195 kg" until I realized you meant pounds! XD
"Bro, you have more important things to worry about than fashion!"
But yeah. I think at heavier weights, like, when you graduate from "pudgy" to "fat" as I have, most of the size difference comes from the belly and...
Mhm, mhm. Right.
Really, that always was the plan. Lose the pounds before I buy an expensive jacket.
Help me! I am an XL man trapped in an XXL body! ;v;
Mmmm. Yeah. That is one of the big problems having a big belly. It pushes your damn PANTS down. Makes the proportions look even odder. And yeah that all makes sense.
Aaaaaaaaanyway.....
Thank you all very much for the feedback! This is all very very helpful, I have a lot of really great information to consider now. Perhaps this might help, here's a photo of myself trying on a jacket at the local leather jacket shop. Gives a better idea of my body shape...
Hmmm....... Yeah that all makes sense, I can definitely understand where you're coming from in regards to Schott.
Still, I guess that means there would be LOTS more choice in the second-hand market, if you just don't want to support them! :)
And yeah I'm not a fan of "crumpled" looking leather...
Yeah but unlike you, I'm a fatty trying to lose weight. ;v;
But yeah. Hello, fellow leather noob! :)
I think it might be best to go through Bison trading, as a Canadian. Lately I've been getting seriously screwed by import fees whenever I order anything from the US. God help you if you have to...
... Huh. That actually is quite nice. I'd prefer it with the yoke (See, I'm learning terminology!), but that really is a pleasant, subtle look. I'll add that to my list of jackets to consider.
Hmmm.... I will consider your input seriously. Schott WAS my first choice when I started my research into all this. But then I fell down a rabbit hole of "This one is even BETTERER looking!"
I just don't want a "full biker" jacket with tons of hardware and a belt.
I actually rather like this...
Oh don't worry, I'm not so delusional as to think I'll lose pounds from one specific area first. But the more I lose, the more likely the "gross" parts will shrink, right? :)
But yeah. WOuld be nice to have a sexy jacket to wear in the meantime, though. Hopefully the shape I end up in will be...
I don't know why everyone thinks that's crazy long! The jacket I wore to measure the length came just past my belt line.
... I must have measured incorrectly. Apologies. This would be so much easier if I could actually go to a quality leather store and try things on.
Nah you're not being rude! I understand. That is a little disappointing, but you're being real with me, which I appreciate. Maybe the situation will change when I shed the pounds...
If a double-breasted jacket won't look good on me, a slick bomber jacket might work too.
And yeah, I do have a...
Hmmm...... I suppose I should check out other patterns. If I spent that much on a cross zip jacket and it ended up looking awful, I'd be pretty bummed.
There's two leather jacket shops in town. It's all cheapo polyester-lined garbage, but I can at least get a feel for what looks best on me.
Sorry, I forgot the height. Edited! 5'7.5", though. I have rather short legs. So a longer jacket would just make my legs look even smaller.
Highwayman, huh? Hmm... Well, that does look nice. I like the back. Nice and simple with wide sheets of leather. And I like the "shoulder box" on both...
Okay. I took my measurements according to Aero's ultra-low-res instructions. :p
Please bear in mind, I'm trying to lose weight, so if all goes well, I'll lose at least 6 inches off my belly.
Height: 5'7.5"
Chest: 49" relaxed, 50" expanded.
Stomach: 53" (Ughhhh...)
Waist: 49"
Sleeve: 24.5"...
Well do keep in mind, I said this would be a reward to myself for my weight loss. So my measurements probably wouldn't be the same as they are now. But I do have my current measurements written down here somewhere. Just gotta find it in all these papers... I'll get back to you.
EDIT: Looks like...
