Will you still be looking out? I used to scour eBay everyday. I had too. My size is a 46 or a 46 Long. Very few Kersey 46s show up. There are usually many more smaller sizes on eBay and they tend to be lower priced.
Wow, that was one good buy. A WWII coat in that condition and price doesn't happen often. I have 2 WWII coats in Excellent condition and the buttons were also tight when I bought them. I also have a few postwar coats. Be careful though - peacoats may become addicting.
I recently started looking on ebay for a coat for someone else.. I noticed that the coats in very good to excellent condition are few and far between and they are significantly more expensive as are the larger sizes ( 42, 44, 46 ). The larger sizes were always a bit scarce. The prices for...
I'm totally sold on the old peacoats. I like the Meltons but I'm crazy about the Kerseys. I can't fit even 1 more coat in my woolens closet. Another INCREDIBLE piece of clothing are the US Navy 13 button Kersey stovepipe pants.. They are made of the same material as the peacoats. They also...
I've used mine a couple of times. Both of those coats are WWll. One is a Coast Guard coat which is exactly a navy coat but with a different inside tag. They're great if you don't have a hat. That '59 tag looks nice and clean. I'm assuming the coat is primo.
I think you lucked out. If you want a little bit of a challenge start looking for a dark blue Kersey wool coat. There are very few of those in size 48. A Kersey coat in size 48 is very rare. We don't know if they ever made Kerseys in 48 Long. However, I think a 48 or a 48 regular would be long...
I don't think I'm 46. I will get my wife involved after she finishs work today. It will be an easy 1-2-3 thing with her doing the measuring. The 46s and 46Ls fit me just fine.
I could be wrong but you sound like a size 48XL to me. I'm 6 2 215 - 220 36 inch sleeve.
Peacoat - one day I went into it to do something and came out screwing something up. I forget what it was. I'm really bad with computers and cell phones.
The labels for the DSCPs are on the inside pocket on the right side of the coat under the front buttons. On the 6th line of the labei is the "contract : SP01001 02 D 0 0303 The number 02 is the manufactured year = 2002
My 1995 coat, which is a Bremen Bowdon, has a 95 in the...
How tall are you? I'm 6-2 and have 2 DSCP coats. One is a 1995 46XL and the other is a 2002 46XL. The 1995 is a tinch tighter as the buttons have been sewn 1/4 inch closer to the right side. The 2002 feels normal
P.S. I'm not new here. I did take a couple of peacoat years off.
P.P.S. Borh...
The size tags were square tags which were sewn right under the coat hook. My two coats have the sewing stitches still intact. If you look on your coats you will probably find them also on the top of the lining right under the hang up hook (loop). I've only seen a couple of coats with these...
I don't know if this helps but - A 20 inch pit to pit should yield a size 38 (chest) peacoat. 38s are probably the most common size. I have 2 WW2 peacoats. I'm pretty sure they are both size 46, or possibly 48. The sleeve length on both is 26 while the body length on both is 34. I believe...
This is my newest addition - US Coast Guard WWII Peacoat size 46 Long. Not in perfect condition. but Excellent. IT WEIGHS A TON!! I now have 2 Meltons, 2 WWIIs, and 7 Kerseys.. I just hope {"m all done.. I have no more room in my woolens closet.
