Schott Steerhide softness after breaking in

I used to remember how to read the code perfectly but have not had to do so in years something tells me @Monitor will remember.

Schott Steerhide softness after breaking in

It’s how most Schotts work actually. So the 118 amongst a few other models have no finish/top coat on them so they tend to be a bit softer and pliable right away. But Schott is notorious for having a lot of top coat that sometimes almost makes the jackets look like plastic. Some love that look...

Best leather for a lifelong jacket?

Yup! Your pictures and words are much better than my no pictures and short descriptor but yeah goat! If someone really wants something that pound for pound is strong as hell and almost doesn’t age and will hold its shape and looks new the longest it’s gotta be goat. Now there’s crappy goat out...

Photos of cool jackets owned by others (non-brand specific)

I did. And it’s not as bad as you’d think; but it’s also not the most fun thing to Google haha

Best leather for a lifelong jacket?

I mean it doesn’t sound like it’s really an option for you currently; but to be honest goat is a hide that is for its weight and thickness is incredibly durable, holds it shape incredibly well, and looks new almost for forever.

LW Moose hide LT/A and J-24

Glad this thread came back to life because it was posted right during the heart of my TFL sabbatical. I am a sucker for the LW J23 and moose hide. All 3 of your jackets of course being unique and beautiful though. It’s also hard to describe moose hide to those who’ve never experienced it. It’s...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

I think I’m being misunderstood. All I said is usually you can find them for a better deal. I didn’t say you should only take them on a deal or that they aren’t worth the money. In fact I said it was. The only thing I did say is that it’s out of my price range at the moment. My top end is 300...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

Too rich for my blood at the moment. But Grais always have looked under appreciated from afar and now that I have one I can confirm. The price on this one is steep (not saying it’s not worth every penny just more than Grais usually go for.) you can 100% get some amazing finds and steals when it...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

Fidelity are super hit or miss. A lot of them are no better than mall jackets. Some have been super nice and really great bargain pick ups.

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

Yeah and these kill me. I’ve wanted one for years so a few months ago I finally emailed legendary to ask if they ever had any plans of running them again which they do not and also found out of the two runs they did they never made my size!! Been keeping my eyes peeled for years on eBay and what...

    Why a Leather Jacket?

Like king rocker, original dancing with myself, valley of the dolls Gen X? If so how was the show? How was the lineup? Also no matter what it was probably a lot of fun.

    Conditioning Leather

Blow dryer works to get the conditioner in deep but you’ve got use it on the right setting and right distance. If you get it too hot you 100 damage the leather, you can dry it out or even burn it. If you’re going to ever use it I highly recommend trying it on something you don’t care about a few...

    Conditioning Leather

Yup thats why I hope the emphasis I put on if you actual ride and face long long periods of weather or even casually but you wear it alllllll the time; unlike most of us around here where we have so many the rotation is long or we sell and trade constantly. Most problems can be solved by a damp...

    Conditioning Leather

Only time it really needs conditioning is if its experienced heavy weather conditions, an accident if youre an actual rider that stripped away its finish, or its very old but only a bit dry...if its torn, scratched or flaking no conditioner can save that.. oh and by heavy weather I dont mean one...

Too rich for my blood at the moment but the B-15 is in great shape and the repairs look good. Someone will snatch these up.

The Real McCoy or Flat Head

I echo this. Buy a lot. Find a style or two you really want. Then don’t mind buying cheap, used, vintage etc… buy the 200 dollar range jackets with different measurements and leathers. Find what fits and what looks good on you. That way when you have things that don’t fit, or don’t look good on...

    Conditioning Leather

I do agree about over conditioning......thats a big problem from some new hobbyists or those with OCD and/or perfectionist tendencies. Where they obsessively clean and condition them. When a dab or two of water and a soft towel or a nice brush as you said are all you need. If youre a fire...

Footwear to go with our jackets

To clarify my opinion on them. I dont mind graining and I dont mind wrinkling happening eventually. I dont like how the toe caps have literally like no grain but the side panels do. I would like a more uniform look whether its grain, or no grain. Im not opposed to leather having natural graining...
