Started this one a few days ago. Set in 1950s NYC and about a Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust, came to America, and married an American. Gillham's writing is absolutely beautiful. His first novel, City of Women, set in WW2 Berlin, is also incredible.
Tonight's movie: Amsterdam with Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington. It's set mostly in 1930s New York City.
I...don't know what to make of this movie. The pacing felt off, the dialogue was choppy, and the story was convoluted. I think it could and should have been much...
I've been watching Midsomer Murders starting with Season 1, Episode 1! I don't know why I never watched this series before, but I am loving it. The early seasons - set in the late 1990s - hold up really well.
My daughter grew up watching YouTubers play "The Last of Us" (she's now 22) and she was super excited for this show. We watched the first episode and I was not disappointed. I am a huge Pedro Pascal fan, and he totally nailed this part.
Diana Norman's A Catch of Consequence. Historical fiction set in America and England right before the American Revolution. Norman is a wonderful writer, with some pretty amazing period details that fully immerse you in the 18th century world.
Binge-watched Season 3 of Jack Ryan over Christmas. It was fantastic!
Finished SAS: Rogue Heroes and watched the latest episodes of Three Pines and Slow Horses.
Last night we watched the Top Gun sequel, Maverick, and it was very good. I enjoyed it.
Tonight I watched the new Knives Out movie, Glass Onion. Holy wow. Very, very well done. I loved it. Craig Daniel as Benoit Blanc is incredible.
Just finished watching the original Ocean's 11.
Lots of classic Christmas carols. I cannot listen to any new versions. Blech. So, sorry, Taylor Swift and Michael Buble and Mariah Carey - it's all Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra for this gal!
I do want to watch Lady Chatterley's Lover, the new one on Netflix. Jack O'Connell also stars in SAS: Rogue Heroes.
Finished watching the first season of Rogue Heroes and am looking forward to the second season!
I'll probably start the new season of Jack Ryan tomorrow since we're hunkered down...
