Afraid I don't have one of the jackets. I've owned three pairs of the jeans, been very happy with all of them. Those tend to be true to size in my experience. In terms of letter sizes for jackets, I often find that US labels are one size up from UK - i.e. an XXL here would be a USXL typically...
Unless you plan on wearing the hat all night as part of the costume, I'd keep the mask as is. If the hat is a necessary part of the costume, then maybe trim the mask to fit.
Question for those who wear penny loafers. I have one pair that are a little loose in the hell (but fit great everywhere else. Would a pair of those silicone heel-cups you see sold for joint pain snug them up more successfully than a stick-on heel pad?
Prison Blues make their jackets in the US. They do their Yard Coat in black, with or without blanket lining. prisonblues.net Outstanding quality, better price than Levis - though don't think they're selvedge if that's a dealbreaker. (tbh, I don't much care about selvedge other than t being a...
Something I love in the US is the diaspora traditions. It can be irritating too, of course - especially when a fiction is presented as "the National Dish of Ireland" when in reality it is a completely US diaspora tradition that should be celebrated in its own right. But I love seeing how the...
Branding, innit? I get the impression too that, at least here in the UK, "Made in Japan" has the ring of quality cachet to it that once "Made in USA" did. Lovely stuff, and I guess if people have that and want to spend it good for them, but it's certainly not the only route to quality.
I...
It wouldn't be my choice, certainly. Horses for courses, of course - as long as it doesn't lead to a jacket later - and in non-TFL hands, obvs - being passed off as older than it really is.
I've had Aeros with both the antique brass, and the shiny. The former I think have some sort of lacquer...
Depends on application, really. I'd go for a barnstormer type if I wanted to wear it over a blazer or a suit jacket. For a short, warm jacket, the CC Irvin from Aero every time. The ELMC B3 would be nice without the concho.... I don't like that addition. To be fair, I can completely see what...
Ah! That makes sense, Dave lives in London, and they are exactly the sort of place he would shop.
Interesting. Makes sense TF might vary that as they do play a little with ideas, not totally a "repro" approach.
I really need to pay them a visit..
This fellow may be familiar to some:
Mr Dave Vanian of The Damned, the first of the acknowledged English punk bands to get to vinyl, beating even the Pistols. Dave has always been the best dressed man in punk rock - and the only man I've ever known who dresses *down* to go on stage. Lovely...
That would make sense. I think I'm just have a bit of a stupid today - it has been a very challenging few weeks at work as the University seeks to ensure we deliver ever more while being staffed at the level we were when our programme was less than half the size it is now.
Ups, hang on.... I misread that. The one I saw on a plane was '"Land of Mine", a Danish picture from 2015 about a group of young - children, really - Wehrmacht PoWs being made to clear landmines on a beach, under the watch of a war-weary and embittered Danish sergeant in the immediate post WW2...
Prevailing economic conditions have I'm sure taken their toll. I know I've bought an awful lot less from the US since the pound dropped in value in 2016. It's rallied a little, but not anywhere near close to what it once was. Certainly nothing like the glory days of that spell in 2008 when it...
I'm sure I read somewhere that that line was improvised off the cuff as well, but that could be an urban myth.
Watched that not long after it came out internationally (though before it hit the UK) - on a longhaul flight, I think. Impressive piece of cinema.
5 Against the House is an interesting picture (1955), don't recall how many hats, though. Vets in College on the GI Bill plot the "perfect crime" for fun, on - doubtless we'd say today suffering from undiagnosed PTSD - takes it too far. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048077/
The Killing is a...
He looks like great fun! Our Mimi was Romanian, and if she was anything at all to go by I can only recommend an Eastern European rescue dog. Hope they have tons of fun together!
I wouldn't mess with the design, myself. In terms of gussets, I'd be surprised if Aero were open to that, given it would mean a fair bit of change to the pattern?
Well, while noone will ever replace our beloved Mimi Dog, since she went onto the final great adventure we do now have a space to offer a good home to another little life that needs it. Bertrand Russell Marlowe - Bertie - will be joining us on 16th March (exactly one month after Mimi passed, by...
