20th Anniversary Aero Highwayman in black CXL FQHH. The wide, boxy cut is taking some getting used to and I’m not 100% sure it works on me. It’s a size below my usual but I have a narrow build and could fit at least 2 more jumpers on underneath—fit opinions welcomed!
A new (to me) FQHH standard HWM in size 34. I’m usually a 36 but this is still much roomier throughout than I am used to. On the fence about whether this cut works on my small frame, but am giving myself a chance to learn to love the boxy fit! Thoughts?
Also, it’s around 20 years old, but...
Ha! Fine, that will be my final attempt to coin the above term
Enjoying the jacket weather in Ldn—today a Simons CHP/Mulholland style in what was meant to be black teacore HH but is in fact very brown in the sunlight! Quite like it though as all my other jackets are black.
I think the point is it doesn’t! For clarity I was joking—I didn’t tip with any expectation of faster turnaround, and five star certainly haven’t ever suggested a tip would speed things up.
I’m a very different size to you and fit is about preference so i wouldn’t be able to advise you very well. I bought S, and the declared measurements were accurate. The pattern issues mean that unless you need a lot of room for your stomach and hips it might not fit all that well (and I have...
I think it’s a pattern issue. My HH Simons is definitely not a size too big—it is well sized in the shoulders, chest and arms. But there is no taper to the jacket, so it hangs in a similar way (I think). This is coming from someone without much of a taper to their torso! What I don’t know is how...
Ah thanks–yours looked great so that's encouraging about scaling this jacket. I'd be going down to a 36, which is a bit further, but it seems enlarging carries more risks in terms of pocket layout looking off etc. Will post the results here, thanks for providing the original!
Thanks both.
Thanks both—that’s really good to know! TBH I suspect the same jacket in 5* goathide *will* be a little softer than their horsehide but given what I’ve read across the past few pages, a repro in a fairly pliable leather seems like one of the safer bets. My only slight hesitation is...
Ok while we’re on the subject of leathers (and hoping to skirt any debates—preemptively sharing that my best value jacket is a second hand schott 618 which I love )…
I’m looking at the Cal Leather style LAPD jacket as I know this is a repro of an original pattern and it’s hard to find an...
A trip to the theatre demanded my smartest(!) double rider, James Grose Manila in horsehide:
(I subsequently fastened the unfortunately phallic belt thing)
Indeed. When I stated I was not happy with the work he offered to remedy it to my satisfaction free of charge—I declined and got the jacket away from him as fast as possible. That said, it doesn’t seem a proportionate response to stiff him or go after damages TBH. Photos of the work will be...
Despite my reservations about the cut working on my frame (and my low cut jeans and untucked T tendencies), this thread has made it impossible to resist a classic Schott cross zip!
Have joined the club with a fully-circumcised 1994 618. Has clearly seen a bit of action in the decades of use but...
Funnily enough I can’t buy Bronson because their smallest sizes are still too big for my (Asian) frame. Had assumed they were aiming West but apparently it’s just a weirdly small window of sizes they cater to. Odd!
