this might seem like a noob question but since the learning curve on this website is exorbitant, how do you add a photo as in upload one from your comp?
oh nice I shall!
In that case should I get a 21.5" = 54.6cm if my head size is usually a 55cm (and some hats are a bit bigger)? that way I can use it to shape hats, liner and sweatband in, I'd almost be tempted with a 21" even, I feel it doesn't have to be an exact fit to get the creases out.
Probably what most people would do. Were they nice hats? Was it a hat person or just a person wearing hats?
I would not be good at concealing my stare, my face gives everything away. I need to teach my face to use its inside voice.
I mean you certainly can but... you'll look pretty silly IMO, people will stare not cuz of your style but because of the double hat. I've seen people do that with baseball caps and I just stare, not in a good way, but then if you don't care then why not. Just seems to me to defeat the purpose of...
Great advice thanks :)
BTW where is it that you can see they are willing to accept lower offers (but it doesn't list what that lowest acceptable offer is, obviously)
Sometimes losing out on one thing opens up the door for something better down the road! Hindsight is 20/20. You know, that whole...
I wouldn't be making it, I'd be buying it.
The one I'm looking at is polyurethane based.
I guess it would work? I'm just wondering about the whole canvas part and the seems, might have to put saran wrap over it so slides more?
I got lucky my first few days to have stumbled upon well respected fedora lounge members like Alan and Abbadatdehat giving me recommendations :) I kind impulse bought 2 in 2 days so I'm glad I had the guidance of some of the pros.
Also I did look at that ebay seller's hat offerings, definitely...
I made a new thread for this (I don't know how to delete it) but figured I'd get more response posting here.

Hi,
I'm getting some hats soon and want to be able to reshape them.
I'm a 55cm head size approx.
I'm wondering if anyone has used a wig hat (it's styrofoam or polyurethane base with a canvas top) and if that would work. I assume I'd get 1 size down like a 21 inch (53.34cm) so that I could use...
Is there any harm in putting stiffener in the hat over and over like it'll coat the felt and fibres too much and will ruin the hat?
Let's say if you want to reshape it over and over
if I don't have a styrofoam head or shaper, how do you suggest I do this?
I saw one person just your their hand, I couldn't tell if it was a fist? someone else suggested putting it on your head but it's hard given you can't see where you're putting it and if it's well centred or not
I found something that might help! I don't think this quite follows the original tutorial per say because it's less steps but this is on a Gorin Bros hat, soft suede like rabbit fur felt that you can just shape dry.
oh good to know!
+ if those hatters are in the States, and it's made in the USA I shouldn't have any customs and duties to pay or at least duties because of the free trade so that's a +1
I saw the prices for
ya I spoke to him already.
The other hatters look cool and charge a very reasonable price (Gannon) but I feel if you want something non basic with cool accessories, bandanas and feathers it won't be with the more old school hatters. I could always just buy those things...
