I wouldn't think twice about sending those back. Red Wings are more than capable of producing perfect boots, both the pairs I own arrived pristine, so I'd ask for them to make good on their error.
Yes, admittedly, the boots and some of the reduced items are attainable. I'm so conditioned to these types of shops being wall-to-wall unaffordable that it's almost not worth trawling the website, but I may have a deeper delve (payday is approaching!).
I took my Aero Jarrow boots to a local cobbler and asked them to replace the Viberg heel that was on it and with barely a pause he pulled a perfect match out from a box in his workshop.
No snow in Glasgow but the cold gets into your bones up here, it's a numbing, damp chill that's hard to shake. The Irvin's great because I can buckle the waist belt and trap the warm air in. I also feel the leather-backed Irvin collar is better designed for keeping the wind out without having to...
Great fit and colour. I've resolved to getting a B-6 in seal in the near future. I love my D-1, it's been a fantastic jacket this winter, just a bit lighter than an Irvin and ideal for the chilly, though perhaps not Polar Vortex-strength, weather...
Ken was in touch with me today to share some pics of a jacket that he made way back in 1969 which had been re-discovered, amazingly, in Edinburgh.

Red Wings recommends mink oil for its boots. In fact, it markets its own brand of it, £12 a pop. I bought a tin of non-brand mink oil for £4, it did a nice job in bringing the leather up a bit.
Because China is considered by lawyers to be the wild west when it comes to copyright and intellectual property law. Loads of big name companies fight to get control of their brands because small time scammers will register the name as their own. As such, counterfeiting is rife as are the scams...
I'd apply the same criteria to somebody offering cheap custom boots that I would to a company offering cheap made-to-measure jackets: it's just too good to be true.
