Thanks for the helpful responses. I think I'll go with a 1930's pattern halfbelt and then also a Bootlegger. Will discuss with Aero on best sizing / what stock P2P measurements are.
Hi all - thank you so much for all the help on the Aero fit (I've found @Canuck Panda to be especially helpful with the incredibly detailed responses... I totally agree on the neck thing being one defining aspect of fit). In lieu of starting yet another thread for Aero fit advice, I thought I...
Thanks for all the responses and discussion, all. A few follow-up photos here.
In t-shirt, just to get a sense of my build - note heavily sloped shoulders (not sure if super clear here, as maybe I'm subconciously attempting to straighten them for the photo, but I have the most sloped shoulders...
I don't at all disagree.
The difference could be stylistic or down to individual opinions though.
My perception of Himel is that he thinks longer jackets look better - hence the patterns being longer than "standard" for the style. I don't. That's what I meant by clarifying and spending...
I think the whole ordering process might now be a lot better than what you went through with Reilly around. I found her really good and detail-oriented.
I did not say that Himel screwed up at all. I was unhappy with how the length initially turned out.
I didn't expect the pattern would be so long for a jacket of this style. But nor did they communicate this to me. I'm not sure why I would know the proportions of the pattern normally...
Thanks - it looks good in the pictures but unfortunately too tight in the chest and shoulders even with nothing on but a t-shirt. I considered keeping it and living with it but in the end I just need a 42.
I did not give desired jacket measurements, as I first wanted to see what he could do naturally / with the pattern. It helps that I tried on another Himel jacket (non-leather though) with similar pattern before at Clutch Cafe in London so I knew kind of what I was getting into.
I did not...
Uh, no - that's not what you should have gotten from this at all. More that the fit was totally perfect where it matters most (chest and shoulders), if the jacket was just two inches shorter in the body which they promptly addressed for me.
The longer jacket is just their style / pattern as...
I know there's been a lot of discussion on Himel Brothers on here. It's been helpful for me, and I wanted to contribute my own experience which was overwhelmingly positive.
I ordered my jacket towards the end of last year, which was an Imperial model in medium brown Shinki. For context, I am...
This is a used Freewheelers jacket which I purchased and was slightly too small for me. I gambled that the 40 would fit me, but in reality it was wishful thinking as the Japanese 40 is really a US 38 / EU 48. I knew this at the time but took the chance given Freewheelers currently isn't making...
I bought this beautiful pair of shoes which - while fitting well in the store - unfortuantely was a half size too small for me in reality when I wore them once for a ~1 mile walk. In the 82 last, an Edward Green UK 7 is really a US 7.5, whereas I need a US 8. Sadly, I was fooled as I have a few...
I've been following this thread for awhile and so glad that the jacket found a great home! It looks much more porportional on you than the OP, IMO. But it's because you seem to have much longer legs that balance it out. I personally have short legs relative to my torso and so definiltey need...
