Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

The zipper code says K 1 to me. November 1941. This seems accurate for this jacket.

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

Here are some pics for finding the dare code on grommet zipper assemblies. This is the zipper pull side Hard to see without a camera. The letter indicates month of the year. The E represents the 5th letter of the alphabet and the 5th month of the year. The single number is the year. This...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

I like reversible jackets. They are hard to find. I have a couple. This is Capeskin, one of the most popular leathers used in the 30s and 40s. Very delicate, hence few survive in top condition.

Red, White and Blue 40 Below with wartime V zipper. I can not recall the reference that said 40 Below was in Indiana. Terra Haute.

Vintage Jackets You Regret Not Buying

Buck Skein labels show up the Sears catalog for several years. The brand was independent of Sears, as I see it. I've seen many with this label, but yet to own one. There is an interesting Vest with their label on ebay, but too small for me. It was wool and leather.

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

This Boys jacket has the sunrise grommet zipper, no doubt late 30s, early 40s. Young mens fashion often imitated the adult jackets, just a smaller size. This style, from this era is a difficult item to find. This image is from the 1945 catalog. The first mention of Boysville is 1944

Vintage leather jacket idenitification? (Mr. Gentleman)

An odd, interesting jacket. It has the markings of a 1930s jacket, the main Talon and the Ball and chain pocket zipper. Never heard of this label. I'm not sure what type of leather? All the French seams are also interesting.

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

I just discovered dates on the grommet zipper assembly. They have a month and year code like the Sunrise zippers. The markings on the grommet are tiny but should be there. I will post a picture of where it is located.
