Glad you are enjoying your jacket, it looks great in black! That style had a sturdy chest zipper-I was referring to the halfbelt, the chain of it's puller was very soft, like paperclips-it would not survive repeated use.
More excited about this than Top Gun. Something about the trailer makes it look serious and restrained rather than exaggerated and ridiculous. Very interesting era for aviation with early jets and last generation prop fighters.
The SJC was very good, almost perfect but it was let down by a very flimsy zip puller which broke right away and put me off. I ended up selling it-silly maybe but I like details to be taken care of. I don't need it to be a repro talon or whatever, I just want everything to be sturdy.
I was thinking about going for a SB halfbelt with zero frills, just standard leather and lining to test the waters and stay at the base price.
Avi has released a rather nice looking halfbelt at an attractive price-I know they aren't made in Europe but they seem to be real enthusiasts that work...
Oh no, I'm not at all interested in replicating a Menlo! :) It just happened to be the most vintage looking offering Wested had.
Really I'm just after a non bomber 30s-50s style jacket.
Why didn't he give me a straight answer? The way I see it is It's passive aggressive power play 'I am going to constantly refer the customer to the FAQ to make him feel stupid rather than answering a simple question' but weirdly he also kept insinuating I did not understand what pit to pit...
Tan is more versatile and 'down to earth' while navy is more suave. But I prefer suede in a day to day rather than fancy context, so tan is my choice.
As for taking care of it, buy a kiwi suede foam cleaner and a brush. A small amount of cleaner and brushing will take care of most issues. I also...
He was saying that my answers all all addressed in the FAQ section-but the issue was that I wasn't clear if the S(38-40) in the standard jacket size chart was equivalent to the size 40 in the custom jacket. 'S' covers two chest sizes while for the custom you can select a specific chest size, so...
Actually I read that guide, but it says 'refer to the size chart of the jacket you are interested in' the size chart for that jacket features basic S, M, L sizing, for example S(38-40). But if you order custom, you can order either 38 or 40. That is what I was trying, and failing to find out.
How a simple size query resulted in me being told to get lost.
Actual conversation with Wested. For context, the standard Skyfall jacket has a generic size chart, S, M, L, while the custom allows you to choose chest size, but has no size chart for specific chest size sizing. Note how my...
Do you find it easy to communicate with these guys? I've never been able to continue a conversation with them via email beyond the first reply. The second email does not get answered. My emails are not at all long winded, rude, or confusing. I just ask things like 'what is the pit to pit...
Actually I have a pair of nubuck Dr Martens-much more functional than suede as rain doesn't really affect the colour. Hm-not sure if it works well on a jacket, will have to see how I get along with it when it arrives!
Here is an interesting jacket-I would have guessed it was fifties from the modest styling and quality hide, but it has a later union label-I would need to open a seam to see if the numbers are black, otherwise my guess would be early sixties! Perhaps this company began making this model earlier...
