There is something about a well-fitting peacoat, a certain elegance and presence. And this peacoat will outlive Trouser Bark and his descendants. Not so for many wool Navy peacoats out there because of moths.

Same with me. I have two pairs of IH canvas chinos - in navy and white. Both bought used for about $150 apiece, both built like tanks of heavy (yet soft), canvas. Buying new from the overpriced monopolist just did not make any sense to me.
When buying a vintage leather jacket always ask about smells - perfume smell (damn near impossible to get rid of), cigarette or weed smell (difficult to get rid of outside of ozone treatment), or musty smell (easy to get rid of).
