That's right! I grew up in Bonn, and it's only about an hour from there to the Dutch border. Some of my friends spent a lot of their weekends in this wonderful country, where the grass is much greener - and much cheaper!
By the way - it's amazing, how you always find a suitable image with a...
Ah, yes - at the Dutch-German border they have always been very observant! Not because of the moped petrol being smuggled from Germany to the Netherlands, but rather because of the special herbs being transported the other direction...

Nice Photos, but wrong Topic!
Dear Daan,
your photos of the Bundesgrenzschutz's berets and uniforms are really nice, but these guys have nothing to do with our custom issues! The name "Bundesgrenzschutz" contains the german word "Grenze" (which means "border" in english), but they do not...
That's what I always think when putting on one of my favorite berets:
My Boina Espinosa Algodon went from Argentina to New Zealand and from there half around the world to Germany. And my Elosegui Superlujo first went from Spain to Seattle, before it finally arrived at my home. Sounds silly, but...
To my opinion, this beret suits you fine! It's just the perfect size, and you can wear it in any way you showed on the pictures above. I have an 11 inch Elosegui beret, which looks quite the same size in relation to my head.

Thanks for your answer, Daan! Perhaps I should tinker one of those wooden disks they use in that small movie on your blog about this old spanish beret factory. It can't be that difficult: A 28 cm diameter circle, separated into two half circles, with a smooth surface - ready!
Does anybody know how to clean a cotton beret? I've purchased one of those Espinosa cotton berets at Daan's shop. It's a great thing for the upcoming spring and summer here in Germany, but there's a tiny label inside, that says: "Do not wash, do not iron, do not tumble dry". Well, the latter two...
Well, and that's exactly one of the most important reasons, why I love wearing my Basque Beret! Most of the time, I wear it flat on my head with the "plate" dragged straightly to the front, just like a peaked cap. But sometimes I also wear it on the left or right side. There's no rule, it just...
