Long time lurker. While I enjoy all things Golden Era, it's not my main passion so I don't post here nearly as much as I do on say, The Fountain Pen Network. Still enjoy looking and all the topics here. So much to learn.
Hello from a lurker!
I'm almost finished reading "City of Dragons" by Kelli Stanley. It's a P.I. Noir thriller set in 1940 San Francisco. The book came out in February and the author loves the era (says she's visited FL) and incorporates so many wonderful details of a Golden Era. A really...
I always look at books as little works of art. These take it to a whole new level. Thank you all for sharing your beautiful books. Yet another area of vintage collecting for me to get sucked into.
My parents collected Victorian and Eastlake furniture during the early years of their marriage and when I was younger. Although their tastes shifted to Sheridan and Hepplewhite, we still have a number of Victorian pieces including family heirlooms. I myself love Victorian furniture, especially...
The oldest person I ever new was my grandma's cousin, Eulalia. She was born in 1899 and lived to be 100. She was very sweet and as she had no children and was very close to my grandma, we inherited many wonderful antiques from her. I actually have an Eastlake rocker and a Victorian marble top...
I bought my high school class ring my senior year of high school and wore it until my junior year of college when I bought my college ring. It's been almost a year since I made that purchase and I haven't really worn my high school ring since. I'm still glad I bought it and the college one as...
I love Film Noir. My favorite would have to be "Sunset Boulevard" which was a latter day Film Noir picture being released in 1950. There are many others I enjoy as well.
Thought I would bring this puppy back up. Writing with a black Parker 51 which has a nail fine nib and a ribbed sterling cap. Oh, and it's filled with Noodler's Aircorp Blue-Black. I thought since the pen was made in 1944, a WWII theme ink would be appropriate. What are you all using?
I don't carry it one me, but I've been using my Conway Stewart Knightsbridge a heck of a lot lately. Has something of an Art Deco look to it that I really like.
My grandpa was a mill worker and had to get up around 5a.m. every day. He worked from 7a.m. to 4p.m. Monday-Friday. I think it was a 10 minute drive to work for him, but it usually took longer because he would drive guys to work that didn't have cars in order to earn some extra money. He...
Cool rings. My dad has his father's mason ring. Sadly, my grandfather passed away when my dad was six, and my grandmother had to hock the diamond that was in a the middle of the ring. My mom and I are trying to get the diamond replaced as a Father's Day gift to my dad this year.
