What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

No "Stingy Mas" for me today.....Started out with a Peters Brothers Sable fedora, then switched in this new Royal Deluxe Open Road in Cognac.....I raised the center 3/8", created "gutter bumps" so now it fits better. I like the feel of the felt a lot! Also this one has a flatter flange, more...

    "Uncontested - The Champ"

Thanks Joe! Look up my addition to the Lee Lounge......it makes this one into a piker of sorts. VERY pleased with both of them....I have been scoring some really nice hats lately. ;) https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/the-lee-lounge.18237/page-18#post-3145829

    The Lee Lounge

Here is a Blue Label LEE Open Road/Borsalino clone. Perhaps around 1950 (just basing this on the cheese cloth tip protector rather than plastic or cellophane)? It came with my recently acquired circa 1953 Stratoliner in the same Stetson box and both were sold at the same shop, only this...

    "Uncontested - The Champ"

A fairly recent addition: a Champ "Stratoliner" clone. In a nice rich taupe, 5 1/2" open crown, 2 5/8" brim. VERY nice thin felt on this one. Thin roan sweat (did not want to peak around too much). EDIT: I just realized it has an un-reeded sweat. No wonder it is so comfortable to wear!;)

Ask a question, get an answer

Different processes entirely, felted in sheets then formed for what ever shape desired. It seems I posted a vintage book from the 40's around here from a hatter that supplied wool (and fur) capes for hats and showed their wool processes. As an aside the wool far outsold the fur. Still true...

    Western, anyone?

A two album archive of Alice Killian, from 1946. She has written a lot of information on the photos and in the margins. This is part of it, note I even have her name tag, wish I had a little more information, but this is how they came (two albums). Despite the name this was not a ranch for...

    Show us their hats!

And then there is the fellow who uses his hat for an arm rest........(and could stand to have his trousers tailored a bit).

    The Resistol Roundup

So then you have the information......why were you still asking about dating it then. Unless the sweat is dated (as Stetson has done at different times) you are never going to get an exact year......just an approximate give or take of five or ten years.
