Hi all, thought I might post a thread for anyone who might want to post their most interesting, unique, aesthetically pleasing, or most functional outer pocket designs they've seen or owned on a jacket.

I'm also going to piggy back off this and post something I saw today - does anyone know what this rectangular section is on the chest of a cafe racer? Is it a pocket? I can't see an opening.

That's a very curious looking "pocket". It does seem like there's no opening. Was it decorative? Did they forget to install a flap like so. No idea on my end.

Any idea on the maker or model of this jacket?

In terms of being aesthetically pleasing, I tend to favor D-pockets. But the ones that uniquely stand out are the:

Not to say they're not functional. From personal experience, the Trojan and Star Glove are very functional.
But the most functional is the offset zip on the Appalachian that I have - you could store a whole damn bottle of your favorite beverage in there and still have some room to spare.

From your D-pockets, I'm a huge fan of the Tojan, both with the shape and the contrast double stitching. I do think the Cycle King has a more.. elegant tear drop shape?

Regarding my mystery, it's a jacket collab from one of the Mccoys - either Real Mccoys or Toys Mccoys with Issey Miyake. I can't imaging them forgetting to finish up a detail. So I'm very confused as to what the detail is.

Honestly the patch pocket looks fine to me and seems like it was a modification added after the fact; the only weird thing is that it doesn't have a flap (which would be useful since it's on weatherproof outerwear).
