One Too Many
They came in a very tight box, they needed air and a fit
Here are two Borsalino, probably at the end of the seventies or early eighties.
Both finished with a short hair felt very soft.
Very well kept, have the charm of classic Italian hats in the last 40 years.

They both have to sleep until October. They have taken a ride in the garden to be photographed :)
May be the felt season is over....who can say it?

A Stetson "Open Road" Royal Deluxe soft Fedora style with wind trolly. Has original box. A good friend gave this to me last night. It belonged to his father who passed away last year......he knew I liked hats and he had no use for it....he told me about it but was unsure of size.....I was very doubtful it would fit (I am a 7 1/2 to 7 5/8). Well long story short......IT FITS LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Differant color than it photographs...........a sort of yellow-grey-tan.....Sand Color perhaps? Could not find a blocking tag but could be behind the liner.....I was very cautious about peeking behind the sweat......sweat is a sort of very very deep brown..........not sure of it's age.....
CHEERS,
M

Got home late from our trip last night, but the first thing I did before unpacking the car was to unpack my Knox Premier Strat clone from Adrian. First feel was a dream, the felt is so soft. I snapped a couple of images of the hat as arrived and an open crown shot. Got the steamer out this morning and I will see what crease this beauty is wanting.

Hch. Klipper Offenbach a. M. "Extra Quality", measures 58.5cm, Crown 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 inches, 156 grams, Wool or Wool Blend, no paper label, Seller dated 1905. This Melone has a really interesting Form and Brim work with a 1 3/4 inch Ribbon / Band. I will take a photo wearing it later today so you can see the overall effect. Unfortunately there is some damage to the front of the ribbon but it's 100+ years old. I think the seller's (belonged to great grandfather) dating is accurate.

I was able to find a small help wanted advertisement for Hch. Klipper & Comp in the Intelligenz-Blatt der freien Stadt Frankfurt, Part 4 (1862). I am also waiting on some more information from the Seller.

Wonderful details on this!

Hatatorium from the San Angelo, Texas store that was around since the 1948. This hat was custom made in 1991 by Gary Busker -- the son of the original owners. In addition the the sweat stamping there is the hand written name and size behind the liner the felt. Typical stiff cowboy hat with a nice hand, but not finely pounced. Can't complain for $6.95. :)

Marvelous find. For a hat that old the condition of the ribbon is just another part of that hat's history and character.
