The information you have provided is unfortunately not very definitive. Maybe someone here recognizes the serial number format and can put it within certain dates, but without a photo inside and out I don’t think any of us are going to be able to give you anything specific.I was recently gifted a vintage Stetson hat and am wondering what year it may be. The price tag says $17.00. The serial # is B749681. It was purchased in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know any vintage Stetsons with an original $17 price point, which makes me think either this was made in the last 40-50 years (and will probably not be extraordinary) or $17 is a resale price (in which case, that price doesn’t tell us anything).
Do you have photos? That is the best way to get more information.
They certainly do - that’s an excellent hat probably from the 1950s!Hopefully these photos may help.

Congratulations, you have been gifted a piece of history in what looks to be very good condition. That’s really fantastic.
Question: what makes you say this was priced at $17.00? Does it have that price tag under the leather sweat?
Yeah I’d like to learn more about the Nutria price points, thanks Fruno.Yeah, most likely mid-50s or so. There might be some info on price points in the Nutria thread.

So that $17 tag looks like a resale tag since that’s not the original seller.
Cool, you even got a box with it. Sweet gift. Does it fit you?
Fits pretty good. More room at the sides and a little tight from front to back. Is there a way to adjust the fit?True. I'd figure that was at least a $25-$30 hat in the 50s. Don't hold me to that, tho.
Most folks get a hat stretcher - you can get them on Amazon pretty cheap. Pop it in and tighten it down and let the hat sit for a few days.Fits pretty good. More room at the sides and a little tight from front to back. Is there a way to adjust the fit?
