Gentlemen's attire--do you indulge?

I love menswear, i own a coupla sailor suits, various mens sweaters, a few pairs of men's forties trousers, various men's shirts and ties, and i have a fetish for brogues and penny loafers. I recently purchased a man's vintage tailcoat, waiscoat and trousers which needed no alteration luckily for me and can't wait to channel my inner Marlene. I personally love the look on girls. Oh and braces (suspenders), i think high-waisted trousers, with braces and a white shirt looks really great.

That looks a interesting book and seams to go back a long way in time, I thin ladies wearing Gentlemen's attire can look great, of course it was so in fashion in the 20's by the flappers.

Has any one gone out wearing all Gentlemen's attire ? ( I do not mean trying to look male) more in the context of using it as a style statment.

I have. I once wore a button up shirt, a vest, a tie, and trousers - I loved it, and I got many compliments. Surprisingly enough, I still looked very feminine.

Recently my husband bought me a pair of men's pants from the 1930s in a thrift store. They had been altered to fit a woman exactly my size (it is obvious that they were altered for a woman, as the waist is brought in, but not the hips). I will be putting together an outfit of a man's shirt with those pants, kind of a look I associate with Katherine Hepburn. I don't often wear pants though.

I love that Katherine Hepburn, slightly mannish tailored look. I think it is very alluring and very glamorous.

occasionally wear forties men's trousers, i have one pair which were altered for a lady to wear like Sheeplady's, (luclky find) with a crisp shirt and brogues, and a forties ladies tan wool sport-suit, which i i always feel the bees knee's in and as C-dot said very feminine still. But then i think with painted nails and red lips and the right hair do, the contrast between that and the slightly masculine attire is what makes it so.

Given my problem with off the rack blouses which never fit properly, altered men's shirts are a much better bet for me. And I love the French cuff, it adds so much style.
There are also men's vests, scarves and belts. With my love for the understated look, men's clothes often are the easiest option.

I've missed everyone - I've been off doing other work and life stuff. But finally had a break in the busyness to get back to the Lounge.

I love the menswear...my first vintage hat purchase was the Stetson Whippet. I own two Harris Tweed jackets as well a pretty awesome man's 3 piece suit that I haven't had to guts to rock at the Seattle Film Noir Festival, with the Stetson, of course.

Is there any logic in this, If I wear ladies attire I get comment from certain areas of society mostey men, so do ladies when you wearing men's attrie also get comment from ladies, or is it different beause you still keeping a like feminine touch in your look like makeup etc.

I'm planning an outfit right now that will incorporate a sweater and tie. We'll see how I look. Hopefully won't look too masculine (I'm tall), but I'm pairing it with a skirt, so should hopefully look o.k.
