Your opinion of Hugo Boss jackets?

Just curious if you might have experience with Hugo Boss jackets?? I just purchased one NWT via Ebay for about $150, in goatskin. The photos suggest that it is quite nice. I understand the risks using Ebay, but $150 seemed like a pretty good bargain, and I like a little risk now and then. Their corporate web site shows similar Hugo Boss jackets in lamb and pony for upwards of about $800. Your thoughts?

Given that he designed the rather snazzy Nazi uniforms, I imagine he can design a decent jacket. I mention this because so few people realise that he did this, and got away with it in that no-one attacks his business for this as they would have had a go at anything Leni Riefenstahl set up, for example.

I'm glad someone has mentioned this as no-one belives me when I tell them. Probably it's because they never use it in their advertising unlike the Savile Row Tailors (Henry Poole I think) who use Winston Churchill to advertise their work.

Find it also quite strange to compare Nazi uniforms with nowadays designs and as Mysterious Mose already mentioned:
Hugo Ferdinand Boss passed into eternity in 1948.

I'm not an expert on uniforms, but I'm quite sure to have read that this is actually a legend:
while Hugo Boss' firm, as well as many others, received a commission to make uniforms, he himself never designed them.
I'll be waiting for more informed opinions anyway

Hugo Boss didn't design any uniform, he produced them with forced labor for the reich. After the war he was jugded and fined. He died in 1948. The current business has nothing to do with him.

A lot of german companies from that era had to work for the reich; Junkers, Porsche, BMW... After the war, it was just the remaining german industry trying to survive in post-war conditions. Were their trademarks supposed to be buried too? I never saw anybody feeling guilty for driving a BMW.

I had a wool HB casual jacket for awhile, and it was excellent. It had a nice drape and feel.

I've heard about the Hugo Boss Nazi thing, I've also heard that Chanel was involved too, but I don't know for sure.
I'm not surprised though, they had some very nice uniforms, you know, minus the silly skulls everywhere.

But I have a Hugo Boss leather jacket and its pretty nice, I should have taken better care of it, but its pretty good quality.

I owned a button down hip length Hugo Boss Black leather jacket.. it was a high quality jacket with amazingly soft cowhide leather that was perfectly matched in texture and very thick. It had an excellent lining, perfect stitching and a great design.. The euro cut of the jacket was very slim and form fitting particularly in the chest area and sleeves. Unfortunately as time went on (and I um, expanded) the cut became just was a bit too restrictive for my tastes and I would up selling it. I probably should have gotten a larger size initially. I was really impressed with the quality of leather on this jacket.

I had a Hugo Boss in lambskin - it was soft as butter, but a bit delicate.

I received the jacket and have determined that, compared to my other high-quality pieces, the Hugo Boss's construction is very good, the fit is almost perfect, but the goatskin is fairly thin. For the price, I did OK. It's a keeper, but will be worn mostly on mild temp days. For the record, I would never pay the $795 suggested MSRP for this particular new jacket. I qualify that statement with an unashamed admission that I am a dedicated bottom-feeder, always looking for jackets worth far more than I am willing to pay. This one is no exception. Long live the absense of buyer's remorse!
