I'd start by saying there would be different outfits for different purposes.

For example, I'd like to get a Morning Dress outfit to wear in my coffin. Black Bally Pedro, grey woolen canvas spats, 100% cashmere wool black morning tailcoat with 100% cashmere or Super 150 wool dark grey striped trousers, grey silk waistcoat, white 100% cotton tunic, stiff detachable wing(?) collar, silver ball collar studs, stiff detachable barrel cuffs, silver cufflinks, white V-neck 100% cotton T-shirt, grey suspender belts, grey with black polka dots self-tie (obvisouly tied by someone else) silk cravat, black silk top hat, silver knob formal walking cane, plain white silk handkerchief, grey OTC 98% woolen socks, sock garters, and a Constantine Vacheron or Patek Phillipe silver fob and pocket watch. Were I to use the Morning Dress while alive when marrying, I'd use a stiff wing collar, substitute a MacClesfield wedding tie, and put an additional plain white Irish linen handkerchief inside the right waist pocket of the waistcoat. If it's not Winter, I might wear 100% cotton OTC socks. If attending someone else's wedding, I will probably not change the cravat set-up, though a gayer bright color cravat, non-grey waistcoat, non-grey suspender belts, may be substituted. The silver stuff might be changed to gold ones, as some might consider the privilege of the wedding parties to wear grey and silver stuff.

A set of formal evening dress clothes and accessories for formal occassions such as receiving a prize at a Nobel awards ceremony, attending one of those diplomatic functions at the White House if White Tie attire is required, or having an audience with Her Majesty EIIR, dancing at the Annual Vienna Ball, etc. Patent leather pumps, white leather canvas spats, 100% cashmere or Super 150 wool black evening tailcoat with 100% cashmere or Super 150 wool black double braid stripes trousers, white pique low V-cut 3-button (all to be buttoned up) waistcoat, white 100% cotton tunic with white pique bib bosom with stiff insertable vinyl interfacing behind bib, 2 or 3 silver M-O-P studs, stiff detachable wing collar, silver ball collar studs, stiff detachable barrel cuffs, silver M-O-P cufflinks, white V-neck 100% cotton T-shirt, white suspender belts, white pique self-tie bow-tie, black silk opera top hat, silver knob formal walking cane, plain silk pocket square in jacket vest pocket, plain white Irish linen handkerchief inside right hip pocket of waistcoat, black OTC 100% silk socks, sock garters, black silk (wool, if Winter) opera cloak, white silk (wool, if Winter) scarf, and a Constantine Vacheron or Patek Phillipe silver fob and pocket watch.

For outdoor leisurely walks, haven't thought of the shoe yet, probably white suede canvas or white leather Boston shoes with red soles, a blue candy stripe seersucker suit would be fine, same type waistcoat for early Spring or late Autumn, light or medium blue suspender belts, medium blue bow tie with white polka dots, straw hat, a black solid 22K gold Fritz handle walking cane, plain white Irish linen handkerchief, white OTC 100% cotton socks, sock garters, white V-neck 100% cotton T-shirt, and a Constantine Vacheron or Patek Phillipe gold fob and pocket watch.

I will always be enamored with the wedding dresses from the 1930s,but they do not suit my figure.
However, since we're talking fantasy I may as well fantasize big and pretend that my figure would instantly morph to that of Ginger Rogers in such a dress.
Since,I've already had my wedding I would host an extravagantly formal Art Deco themed black and white ball on New Year's Eve.

Here's the dress:

A dress such as this needs very little embellishment in the way of accoutrements.
Simple earrings:

Some ballroom shoes for women still have a 30s influence,so something like this with a bit more heel and in silver would be pretty:

I would like two things:

1.) To stay as I am (but with more lean muscle, like a swimmer) and not gain fat around the waist.

2.) To then have every pair of my trousers (except cotton khakis) and my jeans custom-made and expertly fitted. We guys look pretty good in ------- trousers that fit us just right, as I'm sure the ladies of the Lounge can attest to. :)

Happy Stroller, if you're going to do it right (i.e., faithful to the original), skip the cashmere and the Supers.

1--Lobb Paris bespoke black punch caps
2--3 piece Smith Woolens 15 ounce or H.Lesser 16 ounce worsted, SB coat, DB vest with super wide bellied lapels; made by Frank Shattuck. Plain white 3x3 160s shirt from Kabbaz.
3--Gray Thurston boxcloth with the original white gut ends
4--Black, white & silver Macclesfield from Marinella, Nicky or Drake
5--Black homburg from Locke. I clould be talked out of Locke, as I don't know much about hats.

Thanks, Monsieur Anton, for your esteemed advice.

Could you kindly elaborate on which particular piece of clothing (e.g., Morning Dress trousers?) you are referring to in particular?

BTW, will the Chinese version of your book be in traditional Chinese characters (used in Hongkong SAR and the Republic of China) or in Communist Chinese simplified script (used in the Chinese Peoples' Republic)?

if anyone doesn't know yet what my perfect outift is then you clearly haven't been paying attention in class : a single breasted peaked lapel belt-back suit from about 1933. chestnut brown in colour with a subtle turquiose overcheck.

All of it. Go straight to the H.Lesser and Smith Woolens formal books. You will find everything you need, 100% wool, best quality, vintage-era finishing.

I honestly don't know.

It used to be Detroit....
Perfect outfits... hmm, I immediately think of:

1. Jack Nicholson's 3 piece white suit from "Chinatown"

2. Howard Hughes' outfit when he flew the Spruce Goose (Only with saddle shoes instead of his white sneakers)

2. Pretty much anything worn by Robert Ripley - including his chinese robes.

The other evening while walking the bulldog in the cemetery, the thought suddenly popped into my head: "Man, there's a goldmine of vintage clothes on all these stiffs... what a waste..."

Oh, yes, trust good ol' Marc to give such prudent advice. Thank you, Sir.

Therefore, I shall leave instructions in a Codicil to my Last Will & Testament for a last-minute substitution of the valuable pocket watch by an 18-jewel (made from insignificant non-jewellery/gem-grade Ihaho Sapphire) 24K gold-plated (2 micron thick) Chairman Mao battery-powered pocket watch (less unnecessary battery, with the hands stopped at the exact time of passing away, as should be the usual practice for time pieces displayed in the house of a deceased person) plus a cheap 18K-plated chain just before the lid is finally closed.

I understand and share your sentiment Happy

However, if I can paraphrase a slogan we have here in Australia, originally regarding organ donation:

"Don't take your vintage threads to heaven,

Heaven knows we need them here"

Now that's a bit hard to do, getting into the formal books of H. Lessor & Sons, or Smith & Co. (Woolens) Ltd.

However, as far as I know, most cashmeres are a wool worsted blend and Super 150 are Australian all wool worsteds. Both should give a more luxurious feel than the standard Super 90 wool worsted fabric.

This thread was about practicality?

Not necessarily. You can find all cashmere. Yes, nearly all good wool is Australian.

Both should give a more luxurious feel than the standard Super 90 wool worsted fabric.
True, they will feel smoother to the touch, but the fabric will almost certainly be of inferior quality and cost more.
