Does anyone else have available to them imports from Scotland from Barr's, Irn Bru and Dandelion and Burdock?

Irn Bru ("iron brew" - in fact, generic versions use this generic language) is orange in colour, but tastes a little like a cross between ginger ale and something I can't quite identify.

Dandelion and Burdock is quite tasty, notwithstanding the name, and like root beer, which it resembles in both colour and, somewhat, in taste, is made from, you guessed it, the roots of dandelion and burdock weeds.

YUM!

Ahh Irn-Bru the other national drink for us Scots.....
There is no real description of the taste it is just Irn Bru.Sad to say the diet version is not worth the candle. However a nice Ginger ale can definitely hit the spot.

For those of you who fancy sugar in your soda as opposed to high fructose corn syrup, I noticed original sugar versions of Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper in the store recently.

- Coke Zero...it's better than normal Coke! HUGE market for Coke Zero in Australia.
- Bitter lemon
- Tonic water

It's (Coke Zero) getting bigger here in the UK too.
I am also a fan of Bitter Lemon (picked up 24 mini cans of the Schwepps stuff for 8p a can the other day!) Lovely stuff.

I enjoyed some Fanta Fruit twist this weekend, I've not had that for years.

A mandarin and seville orange jigger by Fentimans of Newcastle. Even the name brings a smile to my face!

Welcome to the lounge.

Sounds lovely, this variety was the favourite of a friend of mine who was purchased the "Fentiman's Collection" (all the varieties of Fentiman's in a home-made box).

Mrs. B is a fan of the Curiosity Cola, I'm a great fan of their Tonic Water.

Another vintage soft drink alert!

In the Cost Plus/World Market ad I got yesterday, they were advertising a "vintage soda sampler" with 9 glass bottles for $9.99.

Bundaberg Ginger Beer - the best Ginger Beer in the world bar none! (and it's made right here in Queensland, Australia).

The best ginger beer in the world was my grandfather's. Staying at their house on hot summer nights and hearing the explosions in the laundry as bottles blew up, then getting to drink it the next day was pretty magic for a child! It was hot and spicy and a bit lemony.

Since my grandfather died, Bundaberg has the crown.

I also like soda water with a dash of angostura bitters, the occasional diet Coke, and the even-more-occasional Fanta (but I have to be hungover for Fanta).

My favorite now is orange juice with pulp, mixed with club soda! You can buy it as OrangeGina, nice and cold, offa tha' coffee truck.

If I'm eating a slice of pizza, I'll go with Brio, as it's not too sweet.

For fountain pop, I like AW root beer, served in an Ice cold mug.

One favorite non-alcoholic drink is from my homeland. It's called Chicha Morada. It's made from purple corn. it has a naturally sweet/ very slighty tangy taste very similar to apple cider. It can be served hot or cold with diced fruits in it. Yummy!

I don't drink much soda, but when I do have one it's usually a diet Coke, sometimes a Fresca. I do miss Slice, particularly the diet apple version (it didn't taste diet, and was very refreshing). Prior to it coming into the market my family won a case of it for testing a few flavors. Tried some Moxie cola years ago...it's an acquired taste. :p

Of the non-diet sodas, I like A&W (floats), Smart Watermelon from China, and the occasional mix of soda and alcohol (rum & coke, gin & club soda, shandy, etc.).

The Cactus Cooler jamespowers had me try was pretty good. Wasn't as sweet as I expected.

Creaming Soda I love as well. My LA buddy Nathan took for to a local Mexican and they had this awesome drink called 'Inca Cola' except it was yellow and tasted like creaming soda. I wanted to take a case home with me!

IT'S BACK

For over a decade Mountain Dew has not been available in the UK except in specialist shop which charge at least $2 for a 12oz can.

Until I saw Mountain Dew Energy the other day at a petrol station. It tastes like regular mountain dew and I don't think it has any more caffeine than the regular US Mountain Dew. (looking at a comparison chart).

A welcome return!

Are you sure it was not a Peruvian store? Inca Kola is the national soda of Peru. It is great stuff though. I am curious which version you get of it, because here in the US, it tastes very different than it did when I was in Peru.
