lol I just sent you an email through TFL email system, as well. Got your mail, and replied.
Yeah, I've checked eBay and am watching a couple of auctions but the problem is, many sellers won't ship overseas
Man I had a killer Brooks last summer that I had to sell (became too small). Gold label and a super thick hide for a Brooks... Just like my Brimaco jackets-the hide quality is all over the map. Would've been right up your alley. I always had good luck on eBay picking up Brooks CR's. Generally speaking, if you're surprised by what you get it's for the better...
Look into a shipping service, you get the seller to ship to the USA based address, the shipping service then ships it to you. I just did this with an N1 Deck Jacket and saved £50 on the shipping fee.
Just google them and read some reviews
Very stupid! I could see going up to $250 -300 for one that's MINT but no Brooks should ever hit that price! In my experience with Brooks and the tag size is present they(gold label) fit about one size down. The 44" I had was 23" across the chest, 19" at the shoulders. This is how it fit, just BARELY could I zip it.Aw man... That one would have been great. See, that's the thing, how do I know which one to look for? I know that some are great while others... not as much.
I'd love this one but the price is stupid: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/40-Vintage-B...t-BLUE-BucoJ100Style-/281925046125?rmvSB=true
Then there's the sizing, people putting up the same numbers for jackets in sizes 40, 42 and 44...
Only sold b/c I grew and jacket didn't! The Zips were inside the wrist. AND it was a thick hide, really unusual for a Brooks. Felt closer to a Vanson! Why would you sell a jacket that fits you this good! Ah, I should just give up as nothing's gonna look on me even remotely as cool as this... ;_; Man, what a nice jacket that was. Is. Where were the zippers? On the inside of the sleeve?
I just realized that the price on the blue and white Brooks is such because the jacket was apparently mentioned in the Rin Tanaka's book, The Century of Rich Hipster Fashion. I wish that stupid book was never released. Because of it we have mass produced jackets like the Buco, selling for thousands of dollars that nobody but the handful of people get to enjoy.
Ever tried Yahoo Auction Japan and Rakuten?
There are some very decent second hand leather jackets especially Vanson and you can use Buyee shopping service to buy and forward to Europe. There is a 5% service charge if you are bidding on Yahoo Auction Japan through Buyee though. I bought most of my leather jackets on those 2 sites and in fact I just bought a Freewheelers Cafe Racer on Yahoo Auction Japan today.
I actually talked to the dealer of Vanson in Japan who is a big guy. As it turns out, he does not own any Vanson even though he "owns" all those Vanson. Seems most of the big guys in Japan like him actually go custom with Langlitz LOL....not to mention that the 40 is the largest one I could find. Must be tough for the Japanese.
It's true man, there are some amazing jackets there but I feel like I've been abducted by beings who want to laugh at my inability to understand, even the slightest bit, of what's being said, what they cost or any of it. Shame on me for not speaking the language tho...but even google translate makes a mumble mouth mess out of it. I've always viewed those sites as look but don't touch. But do look. ...and shed a wee tear.See, that's exactly what I was meaning to ask about! I'm constantly checking Yahoo Auctions and they have some fantastic selection of jackets and even better prices, but I've no idea how to purchase there as it's all in mystical runes to me. Heck, I can't even figure out how to register. Otherwise, I'd have no problem buying from Japan...
I'm just checking out the Buyee option. Didn't even notice it before, but now that you've told me...
