Won my first vintage Borsalino, or so it says.

Here it is.

I grabbed it for three different reasons:

01) If it's truly a 6 5/8, it's a gift to my wife. Her first (hat, not gift!).
02) If it's possibly, potentially, ridiculously an actual 7 5/8 and it was a mistake, I totally made out.
03) If it's total junk when I receive it, it'll be my first experiment hat at the cost of a BCF.

What do you think? Is it one of those rollable Borsalinos, sans box?

I'm guessing it's a US size 6-5/8, because they list it as small. I could be wrong though. You can't go wrong with a borsalino.

Dumjaw , I would always ask to see the inside of the hat. This would tell me exactly what it is . If it is marked as a size small, it could be a Borsalino "USA". These were made here for a few years .
Buying hats on Ebay is always a learning experience in the beginning.

You're right, of course, but I didn't want to ask any questions for this one this time. It was listed at 99 cents until right before it ended. If it doesn't work out, I'll just reauction it.

I second the "see the inside" recommendation. I got burned by a seller that forgot to mention that the lining had been removed on a hat I bought (and I assumed that a vintage bowler would of course be lined).

I wanted to do as little as possible to draw attention to the listing so that my chances for getting it cheap would be increased. If it shows up with no liner, I wouldn't be bothered.

It's being shipped from Canada, so I don't have it yet, but on the off-chance that it's a rollable Borsalino, I grabbed this rare gem off of eBay - just the rollable box! I've seen plenty of rollable Borsalinos on eBay, but never just an empty box.

From the photographs of the initial auction, can anybody tell if it's a rollable or not? I'm very curious about this. If it's not, I'll use the box as a fancy container for pens on my desk or something. :)
