Wind Trolley Style

I've always liked the look of wind trolleys (wind strings, etc) on a hat, but I never actually used one. (and I've always thought they must look really geeky in use). Until Wednesday. I was hiking out to the end of Chimney Rock at Point Reyes north of San Francisco. As we came over the last ridge on the way down to the point, the wind got fierce. I was wearing a classic vintage bone Borsalino, cav. edge, with open road trim. I was not about to risk losing it. So I undid the wind trolley, and attached the button to my back pack. I always thought it would look pretty weird to have the trolley cord just hang over the left side and onto your jacket. So instead, I ran it off the back, behind my neck and over to my right side. A much less geeky look I think.

I've two hats with wind trolleys, and I must admit, I'm more inclined to pull the hat tighter around my head if need be. But you're idea is great. I rarely have on a backpack, but several of my coats have a button hole right inside at the back of the collar. Would be great, though I'm not exactly sure how you'd swing that, especially without taking your coat off.
