Good morning,
i've readed a lot of time, here on the lounge, about buying vintage hats.
My question:
1) to buy vintage hats is only a passion or it is, also, a way to buy beautiful hats cheaply...i read that someone buy it for 20$...10$ or so...
2) i've readed that you, here on the lounge, wear normally the vintages hats, don't you buy it only for collect them, but for wear ?
3) ...then i would like to buy a vintage fedora, i would like to own a Stetson or a Borsalino, where may i look for it?

Many thanks!!!

Best regards.
Riccardo.

Comparing collecting

You bring up a great point. A person who collects stamps, for example, or coins. They buy them, mount them in an album someplace, and stash them away for safekeeping. They can get them out now and then and look at them. Maybe get them out to bore dinner guests. "Hey! Frank! Wanna see my stamps??? You can have a look while I set up the slide projector so you can see our vacation pictures!" :p
Collecting vintage clothes, hats, etc., means you can show off your collection every day. You can use and enjoy your collection. So for me, with a teensy selection of hats, they get carefully and respectfully worn. There's no end of opportunities to bore people with hat stories everywhere you go...

Is buying vintage hats a way to buy hats cheaply? Well, if you are a size 7, sure. If you are a size 7 & 1/2 or more, it's way to spend a lot of money. :)

I bet you can find some Borsalino hats in second-hand shops there?
