Found it on eBay @BrettafettJeepers! Where'd find that! I have been looking and looking.... Great find and great fit Thor!
The seller posted detailed measurements so I knew it would fit.
Sometimes you get lucky and find a real bargain.

Wow... This is kinda NOT the place for all that. LOL! Leave that kinda crap on Facebook or in PM.
FlightEngineer - there's many Pilots, FE's, Loadmasters, CE's, IP's FI's SP's SI's MP, ME's, and more here... But while we all have different career paths, we all share appreciating these jackets and things like them in common. So don't worry about having to go to extraordinary lengths just to prove yourself here... That's not important.
That Foster 40 looks great. I did want to say that the name plate looked new and unoriginal when I first saw it, because you were talking about the patches being original and all, but again, I kept my mouth shut because it wasn't important. The jacket looks great, you did good with the new collar, and don't worry about what some random person says.

@El Marro I couldn't have expressed the situation any better than you just did as we are only attempting to share information on various G-1 jackets on this thread. Although I have been aware of a number of A-2 contracts, I only realized of late the degree of variation between G-1 contracts. Anyhow, it's all good, and even better without obscure drama sidetracking our interaction.Flightengineer,
That is a nice G-1 and I know what you mean about searching and searching until you find the perfect one. It is surprising how much variation there is in a jacket that was supposed to be uniform!
In response to recent posts by a new member I would like to say the following:
This forum is a place for people who enjoy jackets of all kinds and like to share their knowledge and experience with one another in a friendly way. If that is not why you are here then this is probably not your place. Take care.

It is another jacket )))
The jacket and patches are absolutely original, the photo that you post - is my previous Foster's 42 size)))) , it was sold a month ago to another owner. I showed it here in June - guys here saw it. Then Photobucket down and the photo is now not visible.. It turned out to be a little big to me and I sold it)))
The jacket on my photos with patches - is Foster's size 40, which I bought a month ago in the California via eBay.
Here is a photo tag)))
it is size 40 same contract, not 42))))
Here the photo of the mouton before the replacement.
Here is this jacket on eBay, as you can see all the patches in place , Jarry nametag I bought from relatives separately and returned to the place.

It cost me work, but it was worth it.

Unlike you, I still fly in the cockpit for 18 years and I do not write nastiness in various forums.
Save your poison for Russian-language forums, here will do not understand your frills, buddy.
PS
About my job))))
If that, I'm not going to post scan of my ATPL here, but believe me, my friend, I'm still in the saddle)))
Love the bluebcolor scheme around your panel. You don't see that out here. What aircraft is it?
Thor, it is unreal how you snagged a G-1 that looks that nice that fits that well that cost only $50! Well done my friend. My 1973 Star G-1 fits well over a t-shirt and can be worn as a "grab it and go" jacket anytime one would usually reach for a denim jacket or windbreaker. Not bad for 50 bucks!

When it comes to G-1s, your cup runneth' over my friend.View attachment 83324 I am the proud new owner of an Excelled cowhide G-1 that was gifted to me by a friend (and true gentleman) who obtained it from a family member who was in the Navy aviation community.
The jacket is made of thick yet soft, grainy cowhide that is reminiscent of the hide you might find on a WWII A-2, rather than a 21st century G-1. Fits great, superb workmanship and has both the mil-spec label and the DSCP supply system label inside. The synthetic fur collar is thick, soft and fluffy and should provide excellent protection from the elements when the weather turns nasty.
I think this completes my G-1 collection!

The jacket is dark seal brown. And you are right, no collection is ever truly "complete".Thor, is it really black or is it so looks black at the photo ?
Good fit .
Always nice to receive a gift, especially from friends.
As for completing the collection ... it's so hard to say stop)))
I agree with you @daw that real mouton is nicer than the synthetic dynal collar fur. Some older modern jackets have small collars with ratty, stiff and thin "fur" that is not very appealing. However this Excelled G-1 has a large collar with very soft and warm material that feels almost like real mouton. For a newer jacket, it is very robust and substantial; it is comfortable to wear and the grainy cowhide, big brass zipper and large synthetic fur collar makes this one feel rather unique and sets it apart from the more standard goatskin model G-1's with the smallish collars and the paperclip style brass zip. I like this one ALOT!Thor,
Great fit! How do you think the synthetic mouton compares to the real thing? That's a major negative for me with some of the more recent G1's-I'm pretty heavily biased in favor of the real thing...

In this photo you can see a better view of the dark brown leather.
