Great article. Glad to hear that our favorite rodent is doing well. With less consumers wearing hats these days, the pressure is not as great on these little guys. I don't think the beavers would like me much as my goal is to own only beaver hats
Wow, beaver structures are visible from space. Isn't that something!
I've seen several beaver damns in the 25 to 50 yard range.
Back in the early 70's I was canoe trekking with a party in The Boundary Waters. At one point during the trek we were getting ready for a 2 mile portage, at least that's what the map showed.
When we arrived at the portage area we were pleasantly surprised to see that beavers had been working. We found a large damn complex, the largest of which was probably around 100 yards long. Thanks to the beavers our 2 mile portage was a leisurely paddle through a marsh just deep enough to navigate by canoe.
