Great article. Glad to hear that our favorite rodent is doing well. With less consumers wearing hats these days, the pressure is not as great on these little guys. I don't think the beavers would like me much as my goal is to own only beaver hats :eek:

Wow, beaver structures are visible from space. Isn't that something!

I've seen several beaver damns in the 25 to 50 yard range.

Back in the early 70's I was canoe trekking with a party in The Boundary Waters. At one point during the trek we were getting ready for a 2 mile portage, at least that's what the map showed.

When we arrived at the portage area we were pleasantly surprised to see that beavers had been working. We found a large damn complex, the largest of which was probably around 100 yards long. Thanks to the beavers our 2 mile portage was a leisurely paddle through a marsh just deep enough to navigate by canoe. :D
