When Being Called Indy is a Good Thing

It's my first day home from the Summit, all my gear is in the wash, so I was solidly wearing my civvies today. I even chose a non-Indy hat. Yet, somebody called my Indiana Jones this morning. But the tone of voice revealed that they liked the look, and the comment lead to conversation. As it turned out, the person liked the idea of wearing hats, dressing nicely, and was recently becoming a hat wearer (and suffering the jibes of friends in the process). Their love of hats had nothing to do with Indy, either. It was really quite nice.

I saw a customer in my store wearing a hat the other day. I wanted to make a comment like "...I like hats, too. That looks great, etc." But I didn't mainly because I figured "why call attention to it because it might make him feel self conscious". After thinking about it and then reading your comment here I will make a point to say "Nice hat!" (Even when I'm not wearing mine, too!).

I was at a restaurant . . .

and the waitress oohed and ahed over my Lee Corral . . . She complimented how sharp I looked . . . and then came the fateful words . . .

"You look just like that guy in the movies . . ."

I was already for the Indiana Jones comparison, and started to open my mouth . . .

And then she said . . . "Youknow, that Austalian guy. Crocodile somethin' or other." . . . .

;)
