What's Kept Me Away, These Past Few Months.

As many of you know, I've been missing for a good six months, or so.

I've been working on remodeling a foreclosed home to live in.

It was built in 1933, but unfortunately was completely remodeled, in 1996. There really wasn't anything original left to save, so all I could do was try to make the place nice. It's not my forever house, but a good place to start. For 18k, can't be too picky.

I'll be posting pics of the remodel. I haven't done much to the outside, that's the plan for this summer. So far, only some minor painting, replacing 6 windows, and new doors. The rest of the work has been on the inside.

I hope you all enjoy the progress and that it isn't too far off topic.

What it looked like on day 1.

Thank you! We have redone every room in the house (3 bedrooms, 1 bath, office, living, dining, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry.)
It has been a massive project, that I could not have tackled without my family. My father was in the trades, and flips houses. Between him, my mother, and my brother, I have had a ton of help.

Wonderful job and what a great project! I'm looking forward to more updates and I am thoroughly impressed with your courage in taking this on.

Thank you, both! It's been a labor of love, and am in it about 60 grand, now.

Realtor thinks it'll bring around 90k, without landscaping, so that's a plus!

Quite a project! You'll definitely ave big doing so much of the work yourself, which will pay dividends when it comes time to sell. Make sure and enjoy it for a while at least when it's done, though. ;)

Nice work, Tom. Glad you posted pics. What are your plans for the exterior?

Thank you all for the kind words! It's been quite the project!

Thank you, Lizzie. It's a very nice neighborhood, quiet, and close enough to work that I can see the plant from my living room window.

Welcome back, Tom! That's a worthy project, and you've made a fine start. And it looks like a nice, quiet neighborhood.

So far, we haven't hired out any of the work. We've done all the drywall, flooring, cabinets, electrical, plumbing, etc on our own.

I will enjoy the place for awhile, as I don't plan on putting it on the market for another two years.

Very, very big job and well done. Remodelling a house is hard work and it looks like you've done a fantastic job so far.

All that hard work is going to pay off with having a great place to live and if, and when you choose to sell, a nice tidy profit in your back pocket.

Great to "see" you again Tom, it's been too long!
Congrats on the new house, it seems to be coming along quite nicely.

The new house looks really great Tom.
The Cadillac also tells your neighbors you mean business, you're successful in it, and you're a man of refined taste.
Just don't ruin their impression by drinking Hamm's out in the front yard. :p

Gregg - on my street, there's my Cadillac, a Lincoln Town Car, two Chrysler 300's, and a LeSabre. There's at least a little lux in this neighborhood lol

Way ahead of you!

Gotta show them you mean business and drink 24 ouncers on the front porch!
