What to do?

A couple of things have been lingering in my mind lately....


1) What do you do when noone seems to believe that it takes quite a long time to get hats that are non standard?

2) What do you do when you barter a hat (that is in the process of weaving) and the other party only does half the job?

I'm entirely ready to have the weaver keep weaving and selling the hat THAT I'VE ALREADY PAID FOR and selling it and keeping of the work I received and, if ever, I get the other work due in our deal, I'll have another hat woven.

My nasty side wants to send a half woven hat....but that doesn't serve economically.

IMHO

I really don't know Bob. If I were selling someting backed by my good name, I would drag my naked body over broken glass to make everything right. You can't control the "jobbers" and the "sub contractors" ...but you can stand by trying to make the customer happy.

I worked 13 years in retail before my current job, and that was an eye opener. You have to love your work, your product, and your customers. Withouut them, you quickly go out of business.

My advice:

Try to work something out with him that will make him happy and that you can live with. If that doesn't work, give in and take the hit.

If you're dealing with people, you're going to run into a certain percentage of sob's. Might as well build that into the business plan and deal with it as it occurs.

If he leaves mad, it's guaranteed he will do his best to make sure your name is mud to anybody he runs into. Who knows, if you make him happy, he may spread the good word far and wide.

There is no "one" in particular, it just amazes me the impatience that goes along with a society such as ours.

Since we really only make enough money to pay the President and his family and my wife's aunt it won't hurt me one bit if the sales fall off and these guys lose their chance to pay a pittance...off to New Mexico, off to Hawaii, or worse yet, off to Ambato with them!

I need to vent about once a month...that isn't too bad, but I really do the best possible short of marking the prices up and hopping planes down myself.
