I couldn't pass this by at that price ($25)

My best guess is that this is a contemporary model, given the condition and the fact that the retailer is or was until recently still in buisness (Cincinnati's oldest hat shop!)
The fact that it is a Sovereign quality with a center dent & what appears to be a bound brim, I am guessing that this a Firenze

tho' it might also be a Nobel (to me, the brim looks wider than 2 1/4")

or Hampton

...
The only other Sovereign in current production(I think) is the Chatham and it is a raw brim...so anyone wanna hazard a guess as to what I (will soon) have here ? And can anyone speak to the quality of the Sovereign line? I know current Stetsons get a hard time here from some and the most recent stetson I have is a 50+ year old 3x fedora

Many thanks & regards,
Rick

Definitely looks like the Firenze to me.

I tried on some new Stetson's at John Helmer here in PDX, and while they're nice hats (I like the Chatham most), they are much lighter-weight felt than in days of old. Kind of flmsy, in not such a good way. No idea how they hold up. I left Helmer's thinking, "I can buy two or three, maybe even four, nicer vintage hats in my size for the price of one so-so new Stetson...back to eBay I hunt." With that price, if it fits (some newer hats are not as "true" to the labeled size as older ones), you just can't lose. The bound edge is always a nice touch IMO.
